First Impressions

So I got the Coupe out for it's first run today. Here are my first impressions:

Very nice, refined and a deceptive power delivery. I found it a little slow on the uptake until post 70, but then I didn't buy the car for outright performance. The acceleration in 5th and 6th is great, so motorway overtakes are a doddle. 1st gear is insanely short though. The car doesn't beg me to hit the go pedal, more just ease past things. This may be because it's signifcantly quieter than my other car, and you can't hear the engine as much.

The M Sport suspension is a bit harsh at low speeds and the handling a little skittish when at speed, but I think this is the run flats as I've read on here they deteriorate comfort and handling quite a bit.

The steering is very light, as are all the controls which make for an easy drive, but a bit vague when pushing it. I like a bit more feedback, but overall very nice. Turn off DSC and you can have a bit of fun, but the rear is easily catchable, if not a bit hard to provoke. The front end could do with a bit more pointyness, but that's probably just preference.

Inside the seats are very supportive and comfortable as a driver. The bolsters on the body do dig a little if you try and sleep as a passenger. It's very quiet on the motorway (bar the runflat tyre noise).

Lights are... ok. I could do with more lights. I've done HID conversions in the past but don't want to run into MOT issues and faff about changing bulbs every year.

The gf (a self confessed bad driver) took it back up the road. She had no problems, and was very surprised that she was ticking along at a fair pace after overtaking a van.

I was concerned that I was only getting around 30mpg on the computer, despite constant motorway driving, but when she took it back somehow she got 38??? I have a feeling I may be a bit heavy footed....

As a package it does exactly what I want. There is a niggling bit that said I should have gone for the Z4MC, but only occasionally.

Interesting comments

All I can say is ditch the runflats as soon as you can. I put up with mine for far too long. Many on here have wrote about this, you will be amazed by the transformation
