Well I've just got home and taken the missus out for a spin in the new toy. First impressions:

- It is not an M3 and that is a fact so I will not try and compare with the baby I just sold to the dealer today :( :(

Positives:

  • Lovely looking motor - midnight blue I think its called but black from a distance
Lovely exhaust sound and it even burbles on over run :D
Seats really supportive although back was sore until I adjusted it properly
    Lights are fantastic
    Sound system is brilliant
Economy brilliant (sorry I had to get one comparison with the M30
Beautifully smooth straight 6 engine - my first ever actually
    smooth and linear power delivery

    Nagative....ish

Sat nav crap display and difficult to use without reading the manual
Sport button..... what is that meant to do as I couldn't tell
Squeeky contact point between soft top roof and screen surround
Annoying clicking when the wiper blade comes back to rest.... could this be a dicky relay switch?
Dark wet first drive and car looks dirty
a few little marks on the bonnet that were not reported before hand
a slight indentation to the piano black dash.... can these be replaced or repaired?
£200 off from the seller (good egg), for the marks that were not explained before hand

Anyway overall very please and cant wait to get up in the morning, wash it and go for a drive in Wiltshire with the roof down :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

I'm not sure what the sport button does in your model but mine switches the DCT shift times and plays around a bit with the traction control. It doesn't matter anyway, you'll love it I'm sure.

Put the top down and put on a wooly hat for a nice long drive..... :driving: :driving: :driving:

Enjoy...

Congratulations!

Sport button=fun!

If you have a manual transmission, doesn't do much more than lower steering boost and shorten throttle response time-but it makes a difference.

If you have an automatic transmission, in addition to above, it also holds shift points a little longer giving you better acceleration.

I have a manual box so didn't notice. I was hoping it was like the M button on the M3 :-)

No such luck, I switched from an M3 back to a Zed as well. I loved that sport button, :( :(

Piano black trim is too shiny, and dust shows up easily. Change it to carbon leather or brushed aluminium. :)

where can they be sourced from? Does it have to be a dealer as these will be top dollar I would have thought.

I have brushed aluminium and more than happy to swap with you! :D

Don't do the brushed allum!! :o

You have wood trim in your 35i? I also like brushed aluminium in the new Z4 (carbon aluminium in M Sport). :)

Although Piano black will show the dust and scratches I would choose it over brushed ali, but nether compares to Carbon Leather.

All I can say is keep your eyes on ebay, got by CFL for £180 which has to be bargin of the year.
