I saw one parked at a parking meter and it looked like Stan Laurel next to Oliver Hardy. It's like a fat kid in school that tries to hang out with the cool kids. Am I right? Whos with me?

Absolutely agree. Someone once that the TT looks like a VW bug that got sat on by an elephant.

Did look too much like a Beetle squished fore and aft. Ugliest? Not by a long shot--Pontiac Aztec. Need I say more?

I have got one - well the roadster anyway - Ok it looks somewhat like a rollerskate when the roof is down, but my fat kid 3.2 would give many cars a run for its money with the performance. Nice car to drive, you get all the interior bells and whistles at a fraction of the price of many similar cars. Brilliant car to drive in the snow and bad weather, my Z would have not have got out the drive in the last lot of snow in the UK.

Ok agree it is not the best looking, but more stylish than driving a euro box in extreme bad weather.

Love my Z more but will always have a soft spot for the for the fat roller skate. :D

You have a point there with the Aztec, but the TT still is near the top of my f'ugly list

The original TT is and always will be a design classic and a piece of art :x

Yes it's looks are challenging but the best designs are.

When I was 4 years old my Mom punished me for drawing with crayons on the wall. I drew a car, It was a bubble shape for the body, And a smaller bubble shape for the roof and 2 circles for the wheels. Isnt that the Audi TT. I had to scrub that classic work of art off the wall, and so should have the TT designer.

It's without doubt a design classic and considering it's a 10 year old car still looks good.
That picture grabbed off Wikepedia does it no justice.

Each to their own though - there are plaenty who don't understand the Z4, nor the E type Jag, etc.

I disagree with most of the above.

The TT was a design icon in 1998 and IMO has fared the test of time in teh looks department well.

Yes it is a bittle vauge to drive, and yes the Tubo 225 can be a bit "Kick in the back" like with power delivery but imo it is a fine car nonetheless. The original cars in 1998 were a better drive and we quite loose however a number of high speed accidents resulted in Audi modifying the suspension and aerodynamics to make the car softer. The pre softing haldex unit was a fantasitc bit of kit, can recall test driving one and that thing sucked in corners and spat them out for fun.

I've had 3 cars over the years and rate each and everyone of them. Again they are very wheel size sensitive as with the current crop of BMWs.

IMO the car has stood the test of time and is a better car in many ways then my Z4. Build quality and style puts BMW to shame.

My cars.....

Peronally i think it is a great looking car. It is a design classic that stands the test of time.

Love it!

The car is one colour - just the light when the picture was taken. Are you comparing the door with the back end?

I'm with the above - when I had my Z4 roadster, I seriously wanted a Mk1 TT coupe to pair with it, thinking they were both great designs following completely different philosophies, one rounded and flowing, the other sculpted and creased. Ironically, it was TT owners that talked me out of it - everyone seemed to love their cars but find them endless trouble.
