First ESS Supercharged N52 Z4 dynoed

the key OP is to get the nozzle are far away as possible from the intake so literally right after the s/c in your case. You want the fluid to atomize correctly and chill the air down, it also has a lovely effect of steaming cleaning the internals of your engine! WMI can simulate using race grade fuel in the right conditions. Just install it in a way thats unobtrusive so you can remove when you want without any mods to the actual car / wiring.

This is a really cool mod! Could you load a video of the car running with the supercharger? I'd like to see/hear it under the hood at startup, idle, & revs.

When I'm starting to finish the car I will post a video. The car has always been in pieces either engine, body or interior vice since I started modding it.
My interior is in pieces for the moment, it's time to get started :)

I've started to get interested in boosting my 3.0si Coupe as the more I have it the more I think it could be a keeper. I want a Cayman but a good one is 2-3 times the price and I can get my dog in the Z4 which you can't in a Cayman despite more space overall.

ESS have now updated the kit with larger injectors to run 6-6.5psi. It's very tempting as it's described as a complete bolt on solution.

I was wondering how you're getting on with your car the best part of a year on?

PS: They do an upgrade kit for yours with the injectors and a smaller pulley...

Hi I got a question for bmwZ. I got the same supercharger already installed on my car 06 Z4 3.0si but it sound crazy since were installed two years ago, like it need oil, like something is graining but the guy who installed said the oil is ok and is normal noise on those supercharger but I see some body with the same blower and is quiet. Please help, your blower make noise like that or is quiet normal? hope to hear from you soon thanks

I just ordered the ESS supercharger kit for my 2011 Z4 3.0s. I'm going to have it dyno'd this week and then again after the SC is installed. I'll post results here as they are available. Hope it gives a real kick in the pants!

Okay, it's taken quite some time for me to get the kinks worked out of my ESS S/C install http://esstuning.com/ess-n52-vt1-supercharger-system-gen-2/ and get her making the kind of power they advertise. This, I think is primarily due to the fact they've never had an install of the S/C kit on a 2009+ N52 Z4. At least that's the way it appears based on the communications I've had with them, the additional parts and ECU tunes they've had to send me, etc. After a few trips to the dyno and trying to work things out long distance with them, I finally got smart and decided to take the car to a local (relatively) BMW performance shop and have them tune it. Bimmer Perfomance Center https://bimmerperformancecenter.com/ in Raleigh, NC did the tuning for me yesterday. These guys know how to pull power out of a BMW. Bob Bishop spent the whole day with the car tuning, tuning it, and re-tuning it and now it finally makes the power I expected when I bought the S/C kit and installed it. The image shows the baseline power she was producing (with the S/C installed) and then the final power. Note I'm now getting 291 wheel HP and 241 wheel torque after a proper tuning. This is an increase of 83 whp and 44 wtq over stock. Pretty impressive.

The kit originally came with a 120mm blower pulley but I had them send me the 115mm pulley. I also have upgraded injectors and the 3 stage intake on my car. I think one of the issues I had with the ESS tunes is they assumed I had the single stage intake so they weren't tuning to take advantage of the 3 stage. Their tunes also did some funky things to my shift points and the last tune they sent me disabled my tach and made my MPG calculations way off. BPC has fixed all that and I can't say enough good things about them. They're my BMW shop from now on even though they're 2 1/2 drive away from me. My next step will be to add methanol injection. BPC said I could expect another 20-30 whp by adding the methanol. It looks like a pretty easy add and I'll provide another update after that's done. That will also help if I want to increase boost (now running about 7 psi, BPC said I could safely go to 10-14 psi with stock internals) which would really add some power to the beast. They think we can safely go to 400 whp and still maintain longevity.

For now, I can't wait to get this thing on a track where I can get some perf measurements!

Very imprsssive! Now where's the video :)

thats a monster increase... be careful, and keep an eye on things!! That must feel nuts, on such a sweet motor to start with!
