First Emergency Stop

SWMBO obeyed took daughter out in the little 206 I bought for her to learn in and came back reporting that she'd done an emergency stop. "Good to be practising" I said.

Turns out she'd done one for real and spotted the silly twunk was going to pull out on her long before SWMBO did.

So it looks like the hazard perception part of the new driving test is worthwhile! I bought her one of those DVD with practice theory tests including hazard perception videos and she passed her theory with good marks

Well done daughter! (and no, you still don't get to drive the Alpina!)

I sat my test before the hazard perception stuff. Glad I did. I tried the test once and failed

Said I was clicking too much or something :?

That was the problem when I tried it once - I obviously tend on the side of being overly paranoid of completely untrusting of any other road user :D

Best way to be... always assume that the other person is going to do something stupid!

a friend of mine (driving instructor) tells a tale of a driver in the emergency services, who took the standard hazard perception text, and the result was a massive FAIL. :headbang:

When they analysed the results, it transpired that he had correctly identified the threats before they were deemed to be threats, basically his training and regular advanced driving practice resulted in a person being more advanced than the computer……… no real surprise there, and ultimately the computer is just a tool to help people start on the path of being an 'advanced' driver.

I guess the key is that you take in the available data, analyse it and set your driving plan accordingly - which when done automatically is usually super fast and appears like a sixth sense…….. so well done to your daughter - ' the Force is strong with her!'
