First bump

:( Year old car and after six months of ownership, left work, roof down and someone went into the back of me at low speed on a roundabout.

Doesn't looks too bad, bumper dented a bit, few scratches, chips and small hole.

Assuming they find nothing else, hopefully they will just replace the bumper?

How long will i be without my Zed? :(

Maybe useless without pictures but its too dark.

Did the roof go back up ok?

My Dads M3 was rear ended by a woman when he was stationary in traffic in a 30 mph zone her car was a write off, his didn't look that bad but there was a small crease in the well in the boot, the exhaust system had been shifted and damaged as well as the damage to the bumper. It cost £3500 to sort and that was in 2007 so don't assume it's just a bumper.

They have built in reinforcements to stop the car collapsing when hit so be prepared for a couple of weeks with the body shop. You'd rather it was fixed properly than rushed!

Should be fine- your car is young enough that a beyond economic repair outcome is very unlikely for low speed bump. There is likely to be a bit of unseen damage so insist their insurance company goes through a body shop you trust or BMW.

Everything else seems fine, slight mark on the exhaust tip but hopefully OK.

It was all sorted with insurance in within a few hours, they admitted fault and the dealer's bodyshop will ring tomorrow to book it in.

Company handling it is Accident Exchange, not sure if i dare google them  .

Just a bit guttted.

I just have- I wouldnt go near them

I would insist on BMW repairs. You are in your rights to do so. I ran into the back of someone- as per my thread and even tho I am fixing my z outside of insurance the other party wanted to claim and has insisted on main dealer.

Not even reading it  They've said Cooper BMW will be looking at it, not sure they're good or bad either

Just get a quote for date of work completion as a lot of the complaints relate to the racking up of hire car costs (one person on our own forum had a £24K hire car cost) Obviously you wont be financially liable, just without your car for a looong time!

Deja vu.. this kinda thing happened to me where someone slammed into the back of me. I had a whole bumper replaced and it was handled brilliantly by my local BMW dealership and accident exchange.

I'm not entirely comfortable with the whole credit hire thing though. I'm sure when Accident Exchange loaned you the hire car they made you aware of your responsibility to keep costs to the other party to a minimum. E.g. if you have another vehicle you can use or significant savings you can use to hire a car then those options should be taken rather than credit hire. If the other party think you have been unreasonable.. it could well go to court.

I am a Z4 owner as a result of someone running into the back of me. These accident companies are scammers, having read up the bad feedback on the company my insurance company tried to refer me to I followed advice on internet forums, contacted the 3rd parties insurance direct and dealt directly with them.

I would suggest you investigate this route, i.e. if the 3rd party is admitting fault contact their insurers and see what they will do for you. They'll usually bend over backwards to sort it out rather than have unnecessary costs added by some accident company your insurers have referred you to.

In my case I found out the real hire costs were £25 a day, id heard the accident company bill hire cars at £300 per day.

The problem with these accident companies is that the 3rd party insurer can contest the charges if they are unreasonable, you could then become liable for the difference.

Hope it all works out well for you.

Mine was fixed in 4 days no problems, hope you get sorted just as quickly

These companies are desperate for you to take one of their hire cars as its a money spinner.
You will be told though that in the event of a 50/50 claim or that you are found to be at fault that you will be liable to pay all the hire costs.
If there is any doubt about whos fault an accident is you should not take one of their hire cars as it could cost you a fortune.
I had an accident in 2009 on my bike, got a hire bike for a week from somebody as it was definately not my fault and the bill for the other party was over £800.

Gutted to hear that mate. I had it particularly harsh; after literally four days of ownership some scrote opened his car door on me without looking, denting and scratching the wing and door and nearly destroying the mirror.

750 Euros to fix. I had them remove some slight curbing all around one wheel too. And new centre caps, old ones were tarnished.

At the end of the day it's not a good car for my area, but what's amazed me is how... respectful most other drivers tend to be. These are people who literally drive as if they want to have an accident... texting, playing games on their phone, casually turning and chatting to people in the back seat for ages, in heavy traffic... it's looney. But they give Il Cammello a wide berth, keeping their distance, almost never honking, stopping mid-cut-up as they see what they're cutting up, letting me out of roads and alleys. It's great.
