First bit of "Z4 Jealousy"

Came out of the pub tonight to find a couple of egg shells lying by the side of my car. Closer inspection showed they'd lobbed em at my car, one hit plum on the door and the other missed and hit the floor.

Nothing in the way of damage and wiped it off with a dry and a wet cloth, but still a bit hurtful to know someone did that, and also the paranoia of whether it was a random act or someone targeted me.

Part of me hopes I never find out who did it tbh, because if I do i'll be wrapping a heavy object around their skulls.

On the plus side I went on a nice hoon up the lakes to kirkstone pass then down past windermere back to Barrow today, really nice drive. First time since I've got the Z that i've proper let her fly with a 0-60(ish) flat out, only two words to say to that and it rhymes with duck me.

Hope you've all had a pleasant saturday anyhow.

Ste, make sure you get it properly cleaned off. The protein in the egg white can eat into the paintwork

Glad it wasn't physically damaged

yea your very lucky! eggs are dangerous to paintwork! someone threw one at my old 3 series compact many years ago & it destroyed the paint! it makes a circle mark with lots of little chips

less than 2 weeks after owning my Zed and I got egged... left some nasty egg shaped chips in the bonnet... if it wasn't so mortifying i'm sure there are some egg 'n chip jokes in there somewhere! :o

the mess left from my egging...

What's the point, in this cold weather they will freeze and not be visible anyway.

But yeah eggs if left there can do some serious paintwork damage... Sounds like you got lucky.

probably just some young dickheads, nothing personal, luckily no damage, forget it

I agree. If you had something against someone and you went to the effort to go to the shop, buy some eggs, then go to where their car is parked and throw the eggs at the car, your a coward that is going to come off 2nd in a fight

They are just scum, give the car a good clean if you can, get rid of any residue.

Blimey J, how fast was that egg traveling to damage the paintwork like that, ballistic probably :o

Mmmm....

3.0 E85 roadsters can be had for under £6k these days. Not convinced the eggstra attention was an act of jealousy.

Whether we like it or not and whether we accept it or not, the BMW marque itself generates negativity towards owners.

To many we are tossers because we drive BMWs period.

Last year I came out and jumped in my car to go to work, looked through the passenger window and saw what appeared to be frozen water. I thought "strange". And then it dawned on me. My car had been egged. Not just two. But thirty. Every panel on the passenger side. So I walked back around to get in to move it to the drive for a wash and saw the drive side had been keyed most of the way up.

3000 in paint repair and 2 months later I got my z4 back. The eggs do so much damage. And most small paint repair services won't go near a spiderweb like that. I FEEL FOR YOU!

You're the engineer sars :poke:

Egg shell is very strong lengthways (?) - the old 'watch me squeeze this egg as hard as I can and it won't break' trick. I guess if it hits and breaks 'just so' then that strength prevents it shaping and the sharp edge digs in. BMW paint is hard, but brittle right ? Not sure it would need that much force...

Anyway, whoever did it are c0cks
