first 6 cyl M car

What am I missing in this article-

It reckons that 1M would be the first straight 6 M performance car. Isn't the 1 M Coupe 6 cyl, and if not then the Z4M is isn't it???

and I believe the M1 was the first and it was an inline 6...

The author probably meant first 6 cyl turbo M, and editor thought that was too much information. Still may be wrong, but turbos at least are relatively new to M.

It's fron the new range of M Performance rather than ///M so what they're saying is true.

I don't believe that BMW has ever even made a V6 engine for any of their cars...
