Hi Does anyone have a how-to or picture of how the Fire extinguisher fits in the Z4 ?

I have one and lots of brackets but no instructions....

Help !!!!!!!

lol, I've seen one mounted in infront of the driver seat on the floor but don't have the pics. I'll keep an eye out for you.

O.K

As an update, it's fitted......

I'm in a bad mood my head an knees ache from trying to fit the bl00dy thing...

To Assist I'll do a write-up incase anyone needs it !

I looked into this a while ago ... as I had an extinguisher so I thought I just needed the bracket ... my dealer parts department were very helpful and printed the fitting instructions (as I could work out how it was meant to go) ... believe it or not the first instruction is to remove the drivers seat!

At that point I decided it wasn't too bad having the extinguisher in the boot (it fits quite snugly in the little recess on the side of the boot).

I've probably still got the instructions at home ... if you really want them!

i hope for your sake, that god forbid you have a fire, its quicker and easier to release it, than it was to put it in :D

Well you can fit it without removing the seat.

You get 2 brackets and 4 Torx screws.....

The first pain is the 2 brackets are not tapped, you will need to run the screws through a couple of times to make the threads. Hold the bracket in a set of grips....

The next stage is to raise the seat up as much as you can....

If you look under the seat you will see a strap that runs along the length of the seat, it has 3 holes in it.....

Again use the screws on the 2 extreme holes to make a thread..

Next fit the bracket to the seat, the tab on the back holds it straight.. This will take you about 16hrs, give you brain ache and make you want to give up.

Once you've got the brackets fitted, it's easy to fit the extinguisher bracket and strap. Note position

Then snap the extinguisher into the bracket, make sure the 'handle' end is facing the door.

Thats it........

Funny - I was just about to do this when I saw that they say remove the seat!!!

I laughed at how they make no big deal about how to remove the seat. Given that it took so long, I wonder whether I should try and remove it, but I am worried about knocking the airbag light on etc. I think I will give your method a go - cheers for this!

PM me if you want me to send you the PDF for fitting it the recommended way. I can't see how to attach it here.

Hi

Just to say that I fitted the extinguisher and bracket under the driver's seat without removing the seat using Ian's method. It took me 35-40 mins at the most - not kidding! I am not very tall though and can get into tight places, so maybe Ian is much bigger than me!? Thanks for the tip anyway Ian!

Hey Ian

I fitted mine the other way round, I am sure it said fit to the left of the seat if you have electric seats, no?

Not that it REALLy matters? :?
