Got it finally finished today and installed,

Really like it :)

Matches the steering wheel threads really well and this new thread I'm using is night and day to the other stuff I used on my "test boot"

I have to say I do like the true badge match colors very much, I was contemplating using the same color threads as LeatherZ uses as I really like the work they do but I ended up going with the matching colors (or as close to) as the steering wheel,
This is something that really takes time and patience, If you rush it will show so I took my time on this and completed it over 2 days,
Im not the best photographer, The boot actually looks a lot better in person!
But anyway here are some pics,

You can see its a pretty good match to the steering wheel thread,
So two shots for that perspective, One focusing on each

and finally another distance shot

Now this all couldn't be possible without the generous help of Jeff, He goes by the screen name of "rocknroad" on Bimmerforums and he actually does a lot of custom work like this for people,
He not only helped me out with what thread he uses, what color, and where to buy it! BUT he even went as far as donating the thread I used here to me so I could complete my project,
I hope he doesn't mind me showing you work he has done to his car so here is a link to that

So Thank you Jeff for all your help!

Jeff donated SO much thread to me I'm actually racking my brains to think of what else to do!
I was thinking of replacing the black stitching on the E-Brake boot to red,
Don't want to go overboard with the car but I think that might also look nice,

I'm also planning to do some stitching for my 3-Series shift and brake boots too,

Why spend money when you can do it yourself??

Dude, you must not drive your car because your vacuum lines on your carpets are still perfect :poke:

You've done another stellar job on your car! I know what you can do with the rest of your thread... embroider the ///M logo on the headrests (the embossed look is hard to see!) :fuelfire:

Well this isn't the DD, the 3-Series is, and I very rarely carry any passengers in the car so my lines stay straight for a while lol,
I would LOVE to have the ///M logo embroidered in the seats, I don't think I could do that by hand however so it looks like a pipe dream for now,

I'm going to look into trying to learn how to cover things with leather,
I'm looking to "extend" the extended leather on my car a little more, I think the center console door and the plastic piece on top of that would be the first thing,
then possibly the entire top of the dash,
Would be a major PITA but If I can learn how to do it I might try it :)

This is my 2nd attempt as re-stitching these shift boots so I think I'm getting better at working with leather

Wanna do my shift boot?
If you could be without if for a week or so,
It does take a little time to do this, but I have plenty of thread left over,
Its also a bit of a pain to separate the shift boot from the plastic ring so I just pulled off the front bit,

Another thing I noticed was before I added the zig zag purple thread just replacing the black thread with the blue or the the red looked awesome,

I think the boot would look equally as good with 2 lines of red stitching on the black leather :)
thats what I was thinking of doing to my e-brake handle/boot

Sorry, but why would you do that?

What a waste of time.

It looks disgusting.

You've ruined your car.

Just kidding! That looks absolutely fantastic! I love these little touches. Subtle is the way forward to individuality! 8)

Hmm, a project to implemented extended leather. Now that I would like to see / learn how to do ....

I have to say after looking at the pictures on a few computer screens this looks a lot better in real life,

The colors pop out more, It could be that the top was down and yesterday was sunny, It must have sun bleached the photo's :)

Its a real close match to the steering wheel threads and I think it looks nice in there

Great work man! I have to say I prefer your matching color scheme to the other option.

Now if you have a system for "extending" leather, please let me know. I'd love to cover every inch of these cheesy black rubber plastic crap. :x

Very nicely finished, but how come it stops before the top of the gaitor?
Not sure if your boot is the same as the M's but look at the the threads on the stock boot,

Thats where they stop, I just replaced them (by hand mind you!) with the colored threads,
