Finding Xenon headlight?

Hi guys and girls, I'm after a NSF xenon headlight and I've been phoning lots of breakers but with no such luck, has anyone got any ideas as to where to source these sort of items and maybe some suggestions as to who to phone, any help would be great as one headlight isn't quite bright enough at night, thanks all

May be a bit drastic to source a new headlight - depending on what the issue is?

You can source all of the individual parts from BMW themselves and possibly breakers but you will have to dig.

Whats wrong with your current light? We may be able to help...
 
Well........... My headlight was working one day and the next day day it stopped, it had been suffering from a lot of moisture inside, more than just condensation, I have taken it to a garage to find out what the problem was and they said the water over time has corroded the plug to the point of the pins falling out, also corroded the inside of the headlight and blown the bulb, im guessing their not trying to drain me of cash as they won't make much by purely just fitting a new unit as I'm hopefully going to supply it, it's a bummer really as I can't find any anywhere??

Humm - im betting you can still fix/salvage it :)
Any pics of the damage?
Which plug specifically? A common issue is the control unit which attaches to the underside of the headlight house lets water in and blows - that needs to be replaced and generally all is good again. The ballast sits on the back of the headlight so cant see that getting rusty unless the amount of water was high and it was in there for along time.

I would be temppted to remove the light, take it apart, let it all dry out and start with the control until to begin with. You may find that the buld is not blown in the endl. Use the other side to test out parts.

A new lamp can be very expensive!!!
 
Jamiez, I've just spoke to te garage and it seems the box fitted to the underside of the headlight is the problem, with that plug/wire corroded, so I'm thinking that they assume that part is integrated and cant be seperately replaced, or can it????
 
Mine went too, it was the control unit not the xenon itself. Subsequently the unit on its own was still £400 from BMW! Not including the labour and the diagnosis :headbang:

Mine was done under warranty tho.
 
Is that the unit situated under the headlight? Can these be bought from eBay perhaps, I get confused as to what the difference is between the ballast and control unit and where they are located?

Yes - part 2 in the below is the control unit or ballast. Part 3 is the ignitor/ignition

.....and just referring back to the apparent wire with the connectors that have corroded off, can this wire be purchased seperatly or does it come with the control unit/ballast, not sure where this wire comes from and connects to exactly??

humm - depends which one it is - any pics?
Or can ou point it out on REALOEM?
 
I don't have any pictures as it was the garage that told me the wire was corroded due to water, and I'm pretty sure they meant the wire connected to the control unit under the headlight, could do witha diagram showing the wires as well and where they connect to??
 
I think the same thing just happened to me. Whats a good fix for water getting back in?
ive seen posts that say to get a new cover/gasket.
