Finally worked out why I “dislike” the G29

It has been bugging me for a while now, but finally worked out what it is about the G29 I hate so much.

I will allow the photos to finish the conversation.......

A bit harsh, but

I have to agree with the Fiat comment though, always though the G29 looks like its big brother from the front

In my mind none of that influences me one bit when I'm flying down a back country road with the top down, cool breeze in my hair(z), Loving the pure sound of German engineered horsepower as I blip the throttle and grab the shifter to...and... uh... Dammit man, there is no bloody stick shift :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

give it a few years, and you'll come around I suspect. I'm not keen either, but neither do I have the funds for one.. :D

I think the G29 looks absolutely stunning. I saw a couple of them the other day.

BMW are always good at coming out with something radical that people warm to in time and rarely do they get it wrong IMO.

Accepted that we all like different things.

It’s too big to qualify as a ‘roadster’ IMO.

I drove one in NL recently and while it IS very nicely appointed inside I wasn’t entirely bowled over and had the feeling I was driving something much much bigger than the E85.

Fabric top is an improvement over the E89 though.

I'm slowly coming round to loving the G29,
Absolutely love the interior,
Love the back
Love the rear 3/4 view
Like the side view

still dont like the front..to me it looks a little weedy compared to the rest of the car...
But...slowly slowly catchy G29

I saw a black one coming towards me just outside of Charmouth the other day....was ....sorta...kinda....mmmmmm yeah nice

Bang on mate. All other angles it looks good, that front..... hell no!

The wheels always look under-sized to me. Too much bodywork above the arches and the short wheelbase does it no favours.

Love the G29 from every angle.
Well proportioned good looking car albeit a bit big.
Somehow BMW had the z4 grow in all dimensions considerably over the years whereas for example the boxster hardly did (same goes weightwise)

Agree with your sentiments on the size. I still don't appreciate the front of the G29 though. That grill from the FIAT is horrid in some combinations and acceptable in others, but it's no thing of beauty. The E89 was the sweet spot there to my eye.

Have to agree with the E89 being the sweet spot so far. Made be the LCI will correct a few things. Seems a shame they didn't stick more to the concept cars and I have to say the Toyota front end does look nicer

Imho the e89 is the ugliest one in my eye. (lots of people goint to react to this one, being a topic in the e89 section instead of g29 section where it should be, considering this IS about the g29. No idea why the topicstarter chose to do this though.... )
BMW made it 15cm longer without making it wider, loosing it's 'butch' appearance a z4 should have.
With the G29 bmw restored that ratio a bit by making it wider again.

Dont mind the g29 front; it looks good. Good materials too.

The Supra is ugly though. typical incorherent japanese styling without any lineage to other models. But that goes for most japanese cars I guess.

I felt the same, didn’t like it at all and then when my son bought one and I got to drive it and look at it on the drive everyday I fell in love with it
