finally.. Stock gt4 Vs Highly modded z4m, back to back !

I have almost spent what I paid for my MC in mods. Transformational. Essential.

I also spend a decent amount of cash on my Z4m to make it the way I like it...and to make it preform on track. If we would have bought the Z4M new and also did al the mods to it...then we are closer to the value of a GT4 then you think. The big upside of a GT4 is that is so great straight from the factory...

In the past I always had the impression you are doing financially very well and spending big piles of cash on your Z4M was easy...and also not the only expensive car you owned.... Was this not the case? Or did I have the wrong impression?

what a strange thing to ask...... and actually kinda rude , i think the paragraph above answers your question, i dont wish to really talk any further about where i am financially on a public internet forum. Lets stick to the thread about a highly modded z4 Vs a cayman Gt4.

Sorry; I did not want to be rude...or offend you :(
I never, ever posted anything here on this forum to offend people. But you started the money talk yourself. Financial situations can change for better of for worse. I don't need to know your current financial status (none of my business). Like I said before; because of your posts in the past I had the impression you were doing indeed very well and money for cars was not a big issue. I thought you also had a Porsche, a GTR, etc...but maybe I was mistaken. So I was wondering to myself; maybe I had the wrong impression...that is all. Almost nobody on this forum knows each other in real live; and when reading posts about their cars you sometimes make a mental image of who that guy is in real live. Again; it maybe came out offensive...but was not the purpose! Let's forget it....or let's delete the post and skip the financial talk.

franzino..... not cool mate, No-one in this thread is talking about money or what they have or haven't got, what on EARTH leads to you ask questions like this randomly and think its ok. Whatever your perceptions are or opinions thats ok, keep them to yourself, ... I dont flaunt anything, i dont brag, i haven't even suggested how much ive spent on my z4 , im just a proud z4m owner, i own things ive never posted a picture of on this forum. In future keep your nose out my / other peoples business and concentrate on yourself and your own position. my paragraph clearly answered the questions you seek, you just wanted to pry and be plain Nosey in a way i deem unacceptable and VERY strange . You need to learn some manners and what is and isn't acceptable.

i hear about people on here checking peoples company turnover and bullshit like that, so excuse the iron fist approach here but i really think some people need to mind their own damn business.

Stick to the thread subject or move on from this thread.

Lets leave it their.

I had a poke around a blue GT4 yesterday, it’s a really impressive looking car. I must take one for a test drive soon :driving:

Let me no...!! really interested in your feedback!

[ref]Beedub[/ref], [ref]Franzino[/ref], I've tidied up some of the posts

I wouldn't touch a GT4 until Porsche sort out the ridiculous gearing which for road use is crazy. Not that I can afford one anyway

Indeed…for the time being the used GT4’s are to expensive…when they are hitting like 70 - 75.000 GBP they will be a lot more interesting then now (and I expect they will drop in price after the launch of the 2018 GT4RS / GT4 in Geneva). I can not afford the money for a 991 GT3, but a GT4 in the 75K area is something I could do…but then I will need to sell my Z4M…to make room for the GT4 and also make the financial input for a "second' car a little less (my main car is still the M2). Don’t know if I’m ready to do this and that the GT4 will make me forget my Z4M or that it is a big step forward from my Z4M (it needs to be for this extra money). When reading/watching those reviews of EVO, Chris Harris, CarFection…I have the impression the GT4 is a great car (I would use it 50% track / 50% road). I’m happy someone posted this Z4M vs GT4 topic. In the spring of 2018 I’m going to rent a GT4 for a full day (you can rent them in my country) and then I will make my decision…..and it will also depend on the used price and how much I want to spend. The used price has to be a lot lower then a new GT4 or it makes no sense of buying a used one (which has issues concerning the reliability of the transmission). My biggest question is indeed the long gearing and the 3the gear issue.....spring 2018 will bring a lot of answers. But for me it is obvious; if I ever sell my Z4M the only car that can replace it is a Porsche from the GT department (GT4, GT3, GT2 ;) )

thank you ;-)

the gearing on the cayman was actually weird.... their are places id need to use first at these sprint tracks i go to. i actually have no idea why they did that!!! you've got to drive one to understand how odd the gearing actually is... second goes on foreeeevvverrr and because the car isnt that powerful it actually makes it feel slower than it is!

Yeah I read the road test at the time, second gear good for 82mph, third gear 114mph. The fun is taking the car to the redline and changing up, so practically you've only got one gear (second) to do that in.

All-day rental sounds good though Franzino, plenty opportunity to try it out. I think I'd rather have an M2 and the cash TBH.

Nice to know that with some 17000 mods on our beautiful cars, you can save 85.000 and avoid buying a P car.. :D
If I need to guess; the total money that went into Beedub Z4M (with the car + all the mods) can be around 55.000...?

Hello Franzino. Sorry I don't know exactly what Beedub's car extra has.

I have calculated that you will need to improve significantly the Z4M, roughly the following:
Wheels - 1500
ESS SC - 7000
BBK - 5000
SUSPENSION - 2-3000

Total: 16.550 to 17.550 . Do I miss something important?

I was just guessing the price of a used Z4M (30K) back in the days + the mods (25K). I took Beedub his nice car as a example, because this was the car that was the reference in this comparison. I was saying this because you have to compare the modified price of a used Z4M with the price of a used GT4. If you look around and make some deals; you can buy a 2 year "old left hand" drive GT4 (with clubsport package, 8.000km and 2 yr warranty) for 78K GBP. I can find these cars in EU, so other people can also.

Yes indeed; there are a lot of LHD GT4's for sale in the EU, that don't sell for months and more are coming up for sale this winter. You just need to find a nice one and make them an offer (even if they are asking more). Because the GT4 sellers are getting stressed with their overpriced cars (with the new 4.0L GT4/GT4RS coming at Geneva) and it's becoming a buyers market. Let's be honest why would you pay more then 75K GBP for a used GT4; that is 2 years old, had a new price of 95K GBP (in the EU) and in 4 months there is a new model coming that is better and faster (and not that much more expensive).

A "fully tuned" Z4M is also not a cheap car. But still cheaper then a GT4, that is surely true....but also older and has a very fragile engine (when driving on track a lot). So 55K for a Z4M that is older and modified (till the level of Beedub his awesome Z4M) vs 78K for a 2 year old low mileage Porsche GT4 that actually needs no modifications to be equally awesome. This is a different story in my opinion and this is how you should make the money comparison in my opinion to keep it fair. For people already owning a Z4M...the story is again different.... Still the Z4M is an awesome car for the money...and I still enjoy mine besides my M2. Honestly I'm going to see what the GT4 prices are going to do when the new 4.0L GT4 is introduced in 2018 and maybe I will do the switch and get my first P car.

This is all accurate tbh...... the stock Gt4 is a beast, add some power and WOW. and change the gearing.
