Finally seen one in person in the UK!!

Saw the new Z4 this morning in Plumstead, South London and the very first thing noticeable is it’s width. Next is that grille, wow! Looked too much like a Kia 🙈

Couldn't quite believe my luck this morning when I discovered that BMW UK had the new Z4 display outside their office for the PistonHeads Sunday Service! I've had my M40i on order for a couple of months now but haven't yet seen one in person, so was great to finally check it out :D

Looked to be the sDrive30i M Sport in Misano Blue, but possibly not final UK-spec as it was on 19s but didn't have the full M Sport Plus package. I spent a long time fanboying over it and really liked the car. Fully lived up to all my expectations and looks fab in person. Interior is super nice too with great comfort and loads of toys. I'm now more excited than ever for mine turning up next year :driving:

That blue is really nice! I made a video of the Glasgow Launch if you want to see it in red & white?

Nice video. Harry Fairbairn Irvine also had a red sDrive 20i and white M40i that I saw just before I went on holiday on 1st March. Missed the launch on 7th & 9th March as I was away. When I got back on the 13th the white M40i had been sold. Someone liked it so much that he bought it on launch day.
I have a Misano Blue M40i on order from Harry Fairbairn, Irvine. Delivery expected at the end of this month.

No problem. If you are down this way anytime after it is delivered you would be welcome.
 :driving:

Took a drive over the bridge today and had a look at the new Zeds. Have to say the 4.0i looks much better in the metal that in the pictures. This one was in black. Still not convinced about the grill. Couldn't take it out as the car was already sold. 8)

That would be fantastic! Thank you! I will try to drop yourself a DM if that is ok ? :)

Currently in Bmw garage awaiting a recall issue for my 320 so had a look at he new Z4 on show . It does look good in the flesh, just wish it was a hard top!

Interesting that it's taken a switch back to fabric tops to re-ignite the love for a folding hard top. Show's how popular they are, even if they mean some compromises.

McLaren have set a really high benchmark with theirs, but even then, I was amazed to read reports of the 720S Spider feeling a little "wobbly" compared to the coupe. It shows how hard it is to get them right, but when you do it's a big win-win (like the 570S Spider).

I was down my local dealer last week and I walked past one with its roof up, I then realised what it was.... sorry the roof does nothing for it, I hope new owners get lots of sunny days :) . I must admit I didn't get the wow factor that I got when I first saw the E89 and I've kept an open mind with regards to the G29, 'shock of the new' and all that.

Saw one at the dealer the other day when I was in getting parts, car was in White and was the Z4 m40i

Wasnt impressed, its fat, bulbous at the front (what were they thinking with the grill!?), dull at the back, interior looked good although I do hate the "stuck on" look of the screen its very Merc

Well can finally say I have now seen one for real. A 2.0 M Sport in Misano Blue at BMW garages at Boldon in Sunderland as they are having a open day / weekend. While I appreciate there are alternative opinions and members are rightly excited about owning one of these, I can honestly say my disappointment when I first saw the images was confirmed.

My first opinion was that it looked like an E89 that needed to go one a diet. Gone were the lean stylish look, replaced by something a squatter and 'nose heavy'. This one had it's roof up which I thought looked cheap. There was an i8 roadster next to it and it's canvas roof was totally different and hard to tell apart from the metal one so perhaps I was comparing the two and the the G29 did not compare well.

My car was parked alongside and I did try to think what if anything was on the G29 that I would want or replace with on mine and could not think of anything (Although the colour was nice but would look better with chrome than black IMHO) One positive was when I sat back in mine and looked back as I drove away, a customer about to be shown the G29 was looking and pointing at mine. Did make me feel just a little smug I must admit.

Hope those who have or are about to purchase one enjoy them as I am sure they will, but it's very much a marmite car and not for me.

PS The i8 was a very dark grey and looked fantastic in the sunlight.

Seen my second one this evening coming in the opposite direction (anyone here Wombourne), was that light Pepsi blue colour with all black grille.
Sorry to say it was very samey look, looked quite BMW. It did remind me of the Fiat sports car i had seen earlier.
Roof down the driver sort off waved a finger my way to his passenger, as if to say, look that's the old zed 4.
In fact will be on my dash cam, see if i can find it.
Reminded me of the i8.

Firstly, how to tell if you're old. Fall over in front of a crowd, if they laugh you're young, if they run to help you're old.
I had a 35is back in 2012 and loved it, every minute of it. It's the first time I properly got attached to a car and almost bought it back. I went to see the new model on Friday and actually couldn't sleep that night, I was in love again. Ordered a new one today. To say I'm exited would be an under statement.

I know what you mean, I collect my new G29 tomorrow.

I can't remember the last time I was so excited over a new car!

I’ve had my G29 for 2 months almost as a replacement for my e89. I do find the negativity on here somewhat puzzling as boy the G29 is light years ahead of the old car and gets looks wherever you go. Yes it’s each to their own but it really is an astonishing car. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!
