When i purchased my car it was advertised as an 18i, after becoming accustomed to the humiliation i took it to be tweaked to within an inch of its life & evolve informed me it was “definitely a 20i”
When i drove it home it had morphed into a 36i
Tweaked at 19k miles, now just under 40k
Rob

What does it say on the V5?

V5 says 20i but i didn’t have that for some time after purchase, i was going by the sellers advertising blurb...

Yes, evolve gave me the surprising news & it’s been punching above its weight ever since, it was just the initial month or two after buying that i was non the wiser :)

The VIN plate inside the drivers door shut tells you the model in plain English, along with the date of manufacture.

You should see it states 20i on your plate.

Funny that those guys are just around the corner from my London base. Been there a couple of times to have a look at a couple of cars, they seem to have some decent stock but the owner / manager sales guys don't come across very well. Obviously though you had no issues with them?

Yes yes yes ..but...what’s the model year? :headbang:

I’m trying to develop my hypothesis on whether pneumatic or electrically controlled wastegated N20s re-map better...and now..how does crap in the inlet affect a re-map..

It’s a 63 plate September 13 car, so i presume a 2014 model year :?
Rob

Maybe pm me your vin number so I can check and help build my database for my hypothesis

Not quite sure what your hypothesis will turn out to be, but would my VIN be any use to you too?
Can hopefully send over the before and after graphs next Tuesday as well.

And the photo of the hole I made in the first hedge I got to

When did they make the change from the pneumatic one?

It varies slightly but in UK 20i from production date 9/13..

I see now what I've missed just going out and buying a 265 hp 3 liter. Silly me :P
[/quote

It’s more about the torque than the bhp on the road, remapped 2litres have a fair bit more grunt than the 3litre does :poke:

I had no reason to doubt the dealers description of the car, it was only later on that confusion arose & by then i had the v5 at home anyway

Their premises are far to small & the cars are parked around an inch apart, it’s a nightmare leaving your own car somewhere when visiting.
Apart from that they seemed fine, my rear wheel was discovered to have cracked shortly after purchase but I couldn’t face driving in from Essex so just sorted it out myself.

primarily as the first owner spent 4-5 years and 30k miles driving it around Manchester...

Not driven in Manchester.......

It is either stopped or 20 to 30 above the posted speed limit even old ladies want to race you from the light.

I realised what a disservice I was doing to Mancunians when I said that..at least it wasn’t Liverpool ..a lot more carbon I would have been added :fuelfire:

Well, I had another chat with Ben at Anglia Tuning Centre last night. He tells me they are in fact an agent for Celtic and do send people out to do home remaps. They work out more expensive though, as Celtic take a cut when you book, and then pass the work on to him.
He has never experienced a dip in the graph such as [ref]Pbondar[/ref] had and could offer no explanation for it.
As he points out, for the sake of an hour's drive each way, why would I not take the cheaper option and include a proper before and after dyno run to prove I have what he says he's given me? He reviews the figures and can make adjustments if necessary (rarely, he tells me), so that I will not leave until we are both happy with it.
So it will be interesting to be able to provide evidence to the forum of a Celtic remap, with a dyno check too.

Next Toosdy boy!
Got to be there for 9am, and he tells me there's a Shell garage about 300 yards away, so it'll be brimming with the good stuff.
2 to 3 hours then find a more interesting route home.

Ideally you want to purge as much of the old fuel before topping the tank up and also go for a couple of miles after filling to ensure new fuel is fully through the system..IMHO..

In aviation matters we were told 75% new content when changing operating parameters..

Indeed. It has just over half a tank of V-Power in it right now which has only been in a couple of weeks. It's a 40 mile run to get there. I'll set off early so I have time to fill it with more of the same and run a couple of miles.
