Finally got round to taking a photo!

Here's my high mileage Sdrive 35is that I bought back in January.
Back in February, I had the front bumper resprayed as it was very stone chipped. I have recently noticed that the gap on both ends of the bumper between it and the bonnet is quite wide. The bumper appears to be in the right place but having looked at other E89s, this gap is definitely wider than it should be and I don't think it was like it before it had its paint job. Is there any info on how to remove an E89 front bumper on the forum please? Thanks in advance, Flyz. PS: I am really enjoying this car, especially with the roof down......great fun! :)

My money's on broken brackets if they are anything like the e85/86 bumper... Never seen a guide on here for taking it off though. I've not seen a TIS for the e89 either which is weird after 5 years.

Looks beautiful though 8)

Great looking Car, hope you get it sorted, I know its really irritating once you've noticed it, even when most can not see it. :x

good Luck :D :driving:

Hey thanks guys for the replies. I'll probably just get my hands dirty and see what I can find. At least the weather is looking good tomorrow (have to go for a drive first though )
Here's a photo of that lovely noisy rear end!

Are we talking this area?

If so it could possibly be that it just needs adjusted at the sides best to tackle it from behind the wheel arch. If it's the whole thing then yes either clips have been broken or they've not been aligned properly and need re adjusting. Problem is you starting getting way too anal about it and just when you think that's it you go adjust it again :headbang:

You'll need to get in behind the wheel arch anyway to get it off. The liner is very flexible but you'd be best removing the front half as it's in two parts for better access. Sorry I really should have taken photos when I had to sort mines out and check it all over after it was hit and needed re adjusting.

Hopefully it's not too bad. Btw it's hex bolts and you'll need a 8mm socket I think. Again I forgot to note that down.

This may also help with where things are http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=LM12&mospid=52067&btnr=51_7325&hg=51&fg=15

Thanks Angie4m for the info. Yes that is the area of the bumper. Unfortunately, yesterday didn't quite go as planned as I was laid up with a sickness bug that's been doing the rounds :( . As soon as I feel better, I will investigate the bumper problem and post the outcome. Here's a photo of what it currently looks like and it's the same on both ends.

Nice car,

Random question - did you happen to buy that from Oakwood cars near Maidstone? There was a high(ish) mileage 35is for sale there earlier in the year.

Hi danmiddle2, no I bought it from the Car Shop (car supermarket) at Swindon earlier this year. Had 65,000 miles on the clock, one BMW dealership owner and full BMW service history. I paid £16,500 which I think is reasonable even if it hasn't got many extras, which I don't need as it's only a car to use now and then and it's the model I wanted. At the moment it does everything that it should and I am really enjoying it! Looking forward to hopefully meeting up with some other kindred spirits in the future although I don't know if much often happens down this part of the country. :D
