You're bringing back old memories. Ahhh... to be young again

Did you guys ever had Lode Runner or Jumpman for the C64?
OMG.... I forgot all about those

my friend got a TRS-80 (Tandy aka Radio Shack) for Christmas. I didn't get a computer for years, but my first true experience was on a PET. Later came the Super Pet (woooo!). Tape drive, of course.

So, I am about to take delivery of my first ever Mac, a Macbook Pro 2.2 with 2Gig of RAM... I will undoubtedly miss certain aspects of Windows, although I still have to use it for work, but on the whole I think I will be happy with my decision. I'm sure some of you will think I am nuts (well I must be a little to write this essay at 1:55am when I have to get up for work in a few hours) but I imagine a lot of you will understand my reasons and some of you will have made the same move. In my mind Microsoft have dropped the ball and the balance has shifted. I do hope Microsoft recover from this (the crapness of Vista, not the fact I have defected to Apple... am sure they'l get over that one ;) ), as I fear if not then Apple may well do the same as Microsoft in years to come.

Not really sure why I typed all that, I guess I need to get out more....either way, I need to go to sleep... goodnight :zzzz:

I got me a MacBook Pro and a Mac Mini. I use both Macs and PCs. For Unix related work, I use the Macs since OSX is based on BSD. However, for my serious work and play, I use multiple PCs with Vista. Let's face it, as good as OSX is, the app selection for it are rather limited. Office 2004 for the Mac sux as compared to Office 2007. Omnigraffle sux when compared to Visio 2007. Plus, there are not a lot of games for the Macs. All the new games are for the PC. Plus, I can customize my PCs up the wazoo.

I purchased a MacBook a little over a year ago and will never go back, for numerous reasons. The most prevalent is that it is so much less vulnerable to viruses or attack. No need to consistently update security software etc. Great packaging, LCD display capable of 1080i and very user friendly. I have a Dell Latitude with XP pro for work and IMHO there is no comparison.

All this said I suppose, ultimately it comes down to personal preference, I also own a an iphone and a 3rd gen. nano. Love the iphone, best phone I have ever had.

Best of luck with your decision.

I've never used a PC in my life. Thankfully. :D
At home i have a 20inch 2.1ghz G5 iMac with Harmon Kardon iSticks and iSub, which i use for music (playing & writing), 3D design and graphics work.
Whilst at work I have a dual 2.3ghz G5 powermac with a huuyuuge Apple cinema screen. I use Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark Xpress, Indesign, Cinema 4D, Image Ready, etc etc. I've been doing this graphic design job for 16 years now and i still dont get bored of it... and i think using the Mac has a lot to do with this. I'd be utterly lost if i was put infront of a PC, I really wouldn't know where to begin.
Oh yeah, and i've recently bought myself an iPod Touch. Thats a seriously slick mp3 player.

I've personally owned several macs (imacs & G4's) over the years, and have used countless others (LCIII's, Quadras, G4 towers through to many of the G5's) through my career and not one of them has ever broken down or been infected. They're simply awesome machines.

Guess what???
This is my first post using my new 24" Imac! :D
WOOOHOOOO!!!!
Picked it up this morning and just finishing installing Leopard and setting it up! This monitor is BEAUTIFUL!
Well I am off to transfer my IPOD accounts to this computer...
see ya!

so guys, you all say that Macs can't get infected. Who all remembers the macro viruses from the early/mid 90s? I was a mac tech (actually, a pc tech who liked macs and fixed them) and I deloused my share of Macs. Just last weekend I threw away my system 7.5 disks and all my open transport notes.

I try not to say Macs can't get infected. I don't really think it would be that difficult for someone to write a virus of somesort that could attack the mac. Personally I like to think the reason no one has written a virus is because Mac actually puts out good usefull products.

Oh and CaZ4. How's about letting me borrow that 24" screen. We could uhh timeshare. Yeah. Sounds good.

Started with a Commodore 64, then and Amiga 500, upgraded to the Amiga 2000. Then took the misguided step of getting a windows 3.1 machine an Olivetti 386sx Laptop with 40mb HDD. Saw the error of my ways and installed Linux and x windows on it. Used several Pentium based machines with work and XP culminating in a super sexy Sony Vaio TR1MP.

January this year I looked into Vista and decided I'd had wasted enough of my life on keeping Windows alive. So I bought a MacBook Pro. Absolutely love it. Leopard Rocks!

I dunno about Leopard yet, besides what i've seen on the apple website. But if my dad got the right one I should be getting it for Christmas.

Well if you need to borrow my monitor I happen to know you can easily get to my house in 2 hours from Vegas...
