:D :P 8) :driving: :driving: :driving: After months of agonising, talking to tyre fitters (putting me off) and talking to you guys (putting me back on?!?) - I finally swapped my run flats for Michelin PS2's!! :D :)

Before I got my Z4 I suffered over 4 years with RFT's on my MINI's but never swapped them out - what a fool - Have only driven the car for about 25 miles but already the ride feels much better and from what people have told me they grip like a bi***!!

The guys who fitted them had a really hard time getting the Bridgestones off (took about 1.5hrs!) but am glad they did....... They reckoned I need to get the RFT system disabled by BMW but so far no problems

And the best bit they only cost me £520 fitted brand new......

What do I need to carry in the boot - I know I need some squirty tyre cream but is this enough or do I need a compressor??

Now of I could just find a solution to the acceleration judder I would love this car again

Thanks to all for the help and advice - if it wasn't for forums like this I would believed that RFT's were my only option.

PS - I now have one 255/35/18 and one 22/40/18 RFT both with excellent tread for sale - PM me for details

Alex

You'll like the non-runflats even more after you get them broken in and get 2 or 3 hundred miles on them. I don't know about the 07's but any model Zed before 07 you should have no issue with the "RFT system" which is the tire pressure monitoring system. It does not care what kind of tire you have. Actually I don't think it matter with the 07 either unless you change rims.

Although I still have my RFTs, I do recommend a tire plugger and a compressor. You can't go wrong. At a very minimum, you can use the compressor to keep your tires at proper psi wihtout having to go to the station.

I think it's about where they are at, the last set i had were something like that, but i won't be going back to them personally.

Sounds a good price for PS2s... I know a set for me in 19s (for CSLs) was about £860 fitted (and I need two new rears now after my last track outing..).

I never had RFTs, but even from the Conti's the difference was very noticeable. From what I hear about RFTs, it should be a total transformation!

I once read that the emergency goo-in-a-can may damage the lining of the tire and cannot be removed when the tire is repaired. The compessor-with-goo is a different substance which can eventually be removed from the inside of the tire.

My compressor's goo is made by Dunlop and makes this claim.
