Finally! Bought a Z4 Coupe This Weekend!

One Team, another coupe owner :thumbsup: . Always good fun blowing your original budget when the right car comes along.

We've just been looking for a z4 ragtop, but found and bought a superb condition coupe, so now have two in the family - a much larger compromise than colour :lol:

Looking forward to picking it up now. May take a while though to get the plates sorted etc. Being a complete car snob (!) I wanted to have the plates on when I pick it up and drive it home! :wink:

Are there any South West Z4 meet ups?

When I viewed the car I obviously went through as many of the checklist things as possible.

One thing I did want to query was the tool kit. It seemed to be in the right location (under the boot cover) - but how does one tell its genuine OEM? Mine was in a black carry case and seemed to have all the tools and locking wheel nut thingy. Does this sound right?

Also, how often should one service a Z4 coupe? The service isn't due for another 14k on the computer - but shouldn't it be time bound as well?

Great looking coupe, well done. Comng from Birds it will be tip top too I would have thought. Any Hartge bits thrown in?
 
That's what I thought Taz and what the dealer told me. Seemed to stack up as true, just wanted to check with you boys! :wink:

No, I wish! Have you seen their place? Most impressive. The showroom has some lovely kit in it (M3 Dakar Edition was gorgeous) and the performance tuning workshop you could eat your dinner off the floor! Some interesting work going on there. A Hartge 3 series, Z3M, 850 - all sorts! They certainly seem to be at the top of their game in the performance arena - loads of published work too by the look of it.

How was the dealer to er deal with ? Did you have a car to part ex?

I keep checking the site as he seems to get a few nice coupe's in.

I was looking at the other silver coupe (Auto) but have my car to shift first.

Hi Dan

The dealer so far has been outstanding I have to say. Their operation is seriously impressive and they seem genuinely passionate about BMW performance cars and especially passionate about detailing. All of which is good for people like you and I of course.

That said, I've yet to hand over all the cash and I've not had any issues as yet - so all would be plain sailing in any event. However, I must say, so far things look extremely promising.

Have you seen the auto? I had a look at that one too and it also is very, very nice. Low mileage and full BMW history too. They've had it in a bit longer though so I know they would be prepared to do a deal on it and I am sure would be interested in a part exchange if you have (no I don't work for them or am connected to them in anyway!).

a) Titanium silver is my favourite colour (or maybe silver grey). I think titanium silver looks better by day, and silver grey works better for night time batmobile duties.
b) In Australia, the car you bought (which looks super btw) would cost almost 3 times what you paid!!!
c) Each to their own, but I think those stubby aerials look silly: the official Z4 aerial has a cool raw (almost 1960s robot) retro look to it that just ... works.

FINALLY!!! :D :D :D :D

Drove her home yesterday afternoon and she is now sat on the drive way, gleaming in the morning Sunday sunshine!

OH. MY. GOD! What a car. I mean really! Not only does it look stunning from every angle but what a drive. Due to the M5 being a car park yesterday afternoon I dropped off the M4 at Bath and came home on all the A roads. It meant for a 3.5 hour drive non stop - which did ache after a while - but you really feel the cars benefits on sweeping A roads. Motorway was OK but you do feel a bit exposed IMHO compared to the lump of car I'm used to.

What also gets me though is how calm and laid back the car can be. Pottering about at 30 is just as pleasurable as whacking it into second and thumping through the gears! In fact, I noticed immediately that slower speeds feel faster than in other cars I've had purely due to the size of the car, the vantage point and height off the ground.

Finally, WHAT a soundtrack! Even at low speed the gentle thunder of the engine is so sweet - then when under acceleration the sound is truly amazing.

So, right now, thoroughly impressed! It looked even better when I picked it up (probably as I'd had all the wheels done) than when I viewed it!

Looking forward to now chatting to you all about general ownership as I get to know her inside out!
