I've been after a Merlot with beige interior for a while now but was losing hope of finding a decent one... But I finally found one :D It's in pretty good nick with usual age related stone chips to paint work, couple of small car park dinks that can only be see with the right light whilst looking along the door line. All in all nothing a bit of TLC can't sort out :)

Mechanically it seems pretty sound having covered 50k. Recently had new poly bushes fitted, roof motor has been done as well.

So far all I have done is changed the plugs, but I'm having the rear springs and drop links done on Tuesday along with oil service.

There are a few little things I have noticed so far that need doing:

Front BMW badge lacquer is peeling so needs attention.
Boot opening rams are rusty so need replacing.
Roof needs a proper detail around the base as there are small amounts of green algae forming - that has to go! Actually the whole car needs a proper detail clean up tbf but that's a given I guess.
Front drivers seat need a little liquid leather treatment or I might get them recovered along with the handbrake and gear gaiters to freshen the whole cabin up. I did stumble across some M seats in beige at a breakers and thought I had lucked out but someone had not long beaten me to them :headbang: so maybe recovering the standard sport seats is the way forward.

That's all for now... But have to say I just love driving the Z and very happy to finally get one after having my eye on them for a few years. Only been a week of ownership but looking forward to some happy summer motoring. Now show me some sunshine and twisty B-roads :D

I'll post some decent photos up soon, but for now here are a couple of crappy ones from my phone.

Hiya welcome ... Car looks great already so some TLC and it will look superb...... Happy 'B' Roading sadly here in the city it's " dodge the pot hole" but still love my Z

Gotta love a merlot zed. Used to be one lived near me and I always thought it looked awesome

Well done holding out for the Zed you wanted. Nice different colour combination. The right colour sports seats would work well.

Welcome to the Forum - get out on a few hoons with other members and get more out of your ownership.

:driving:

You have one of the best combo,Merlot Red and 3.0 engine.
All you need now are aero sills and 224 m wheels

If you do change your seats, I'd be interest in your old seats.
I've found it impossible to find any replacement oregan beige interior parts. Can you tell me the beakers you saw the car at as I need some other bits.

Thanks

Looks good but the kidney grills are a bit odd - the black bits should be silver and the silver bits black!

Cheers guys for the welcome and feed back :)

Do you know what, I hadn't even pick up on the kidney grills being the 'wrong way' but I kinda like it, for the moment that is. I'm going to try an enjoy it the way it is for a while before I start tweaking it. I guess wheels and lights will be first to go after I have sorted the seats and other interior bits. Subtle mods are my preferred look, keeping it as classical and timeless as possible, whilst being a little individual I guess. Watch this space.

As for breaker yard Rob check this link out.. http://www.carbreakers-uk.com/view-item.asp?id=5434
Not sure what they have left but seats defo gone! If you were after other beige interior bits then the car in question only had beige M seats with black used for the rest. So I might not be helpful, but if I do change seats I'll keep you in mind.
