Finally a Z4 Coupe owner!

Thanks guys! Appreciate it.

sunnyzed, Silver Grey is definitely the way forward! Brings out the lines of the car IMHO.

Gearbox oil was changed this morning for Redline Synthetic MTL 75w-80 GL4. Car is just shy of 50k and the oil that came out was black. Gear changes do feel considerably smoother, especially when first running the car. 1st to 2nd is improved as it did feel a bit notchy before the change.

Got new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 all round on their way! Can't wait to see what the difference is vs the current Bridgestone Potenza RFTs!! :)

Lovely OP - as has been said welcome to the exclusive Coupe club.

A proper roof works so much better with our UK climate. :poke:

Anyway I know exactly where you are - I used to live at 17 Braeside and now work in Longshot Lane!

Currently live in Sandhurst so only down the road so look forward to seeing you around - if you fancy a meet up PM me.

Enjoy anyway - the N52 engine is just great!

The car had a stubby aerial, but I've swapped it back for the original as the stubby offers poor reception. Is that common?

Common - no. That is one of classiest mods you can make!

Welcome - nice car, glad you're so smitten.

Enjoy :driving:

Just ticked over to 50k!

Work carried out so far in my ownership:

ZHP gear knob.
New Goodyear Eagle F1 Assyms all round.
New NGK Iridium Spark Plugs.
Gear box oil replaced with Redline Synthetic MTL 75w-80 GL4.
3.0Si wing badges removed.
Started motor replaced with new Bosch unit.

Upcoming work:

Replacing front wishbone bushes with Powerflex poly ones as current ones are worn.
Welding back box hanger as one of them (drivers side) has snapped.

Besides that, just enjoying this awesome car!

Welcome and a lovely car you have.

Where's the gearnob from?

I Autoglym'd my seats and it didn't make much difference. They didn't look very dirty anyway though tbh.

Many thanks.

It's a genuine BMW M Sport gear knob (part # 25 11 7 896 886). I got a bit of a bargain from a German Amazon seller, who had them listed at £52 including delivery. I think Sopers BMW offer a forum discount, and the same gear knob can be had for £55.

I used Gliptone Leather Cleaner and Conditioner - makes the seat come up beautifully.

I also clayed the car the other weekend using Bilt Hamber Auto Clay Medium. First time claying, but was very straightforward and gives the paintwork such an amazing glass-like feel when done.

The knob will be my next purchase I think.

On the topic of transmission oil, how often is it recommended to change it? Just had a quick look in the service book and couldn't see it listed.

I also clay bar'd mine and it felt great afterwards. Polish then did a great job and wax a nice finisher. Sorted for winter.

I think, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, that an Inspection 2 for a Z4M includes the replacement of gearbox oil, but the same isn't true for a non-M Z4. Bearing in mind an Inspection 2 is likely to be required at roughly 45k-55k mileage, you could argue that this should be the point at which you should replace the oil.

The differential is supposed to be sealed for life (which really means good for 100k miles). It is something that I will have changed sooner though, as the gearbox oil at just 50k was pretty filthy.

Useful advice, cheers.

Mines on 47k, will be serviced next May without too many miles between now and then. I'll get it done then I imagine.

Little bit of an update :)

Since last posting I have fitted:

Powerflex front rear wishbone bushes
Powerflex RTAB
Plasti dipped inner kidney grills
Fitted metal pressed license plates
Fitted custom rear silencer for a bit more noise.

Obligatory pictures required! :driving:
