Finally a proper run with the roof down

At last a little sun and a chance to get the roof down! Went for a blast across to Richmond Park today, loving the zed without it's lid, it's like having another car, totally different driving experience.

I hadn't fully appreciated the acoustic delights emanating from the engine / exhaust until I got the roof off today. It also seems like the handling sharpens up a little with the roof stowed away in the back (lower centre of gravity I guess)

Only got the zed a couple of months ago and am so pleased with it - it just does everything you ask of it so effortlessly. Have been stalking this superb forum for a while and thought it about time I started contributing!

Roll on summer and more roof down excursions!
 
Will be the last week in the Z3 and then the Z4 will finally be out for the Summer next weekend :) Its been a long miserable winter :(

The chic's acquired the Zed over the last few days for work, I wonder why.

Needs to come back home as I have some nice new drop links fore & aft
 
I had my first experience of the roof down the other week, a mild 7 degrees, but sun was out and I was desperate to give it a go. So had heaters on full blast and seat warmers on and it was absolutely fine, a tad cold around the neck area but apart from that fine. The other half even said when we stopped at a set of lights, the suns really warm, had to explain that it was the fans.
You are right about the engine noise, you really don't appreciate it fully until the hood is down. Hopefully we will have a proper summer and lots more chances to keep the hood down :D

Thankfully all mammals survived unscathed - you need to watch out for cyclists riding three abreast though! - they wouldn't be doing that on any other road (I hope anyway!)

I know what you mean, was only 9.5 degrees according to the screen and my girlfriend was complaining it was too warm with the heaters on! - I don't have the heated seats either - there's some proper 'German Engineering' in those fans!

Oops! I did wonder! Thought it might have been a particularly dodgy autocorrect!
 
How are you enjoying the manual box on your car I have a 35i ordered coming in June with the manual box most seem to be autos and I was in two minds but decided my legs need the workout. :driving:

I'm really pleased with it, very smooth and the shifts are short & quick - you wont be disappointed. That said I've never tried the DCT which I only hear good things about (except the slightly odd forward / backward paddle set up) and would be intrigued to give it a go.

Whenever I'm doing the into / out of London stop-start run I find myself thinking that an auto / DCT box would be pretty handy but when you can drive properly the manual is superb.
 
Know what you mean in stop/start traffic it would be nice and I was thinking of having an auto until my son-in-laws 12plate 5series shut down all its electrics and left him with no drive in the fast lane of the M4 SCARY :o so although I like driveing autos decided to stick with the manual as the box on the the 23i is very nice. :thumbsup:
 
Suns out, wind down, top down. no worries in the E89. Only thing that catches you out is the cross winds at trafic lights.
