Final Production Run of Z4 M Coupes

My local dealer has informed me that the final run of e86 Z4 M Coupes will be during week 25 (3rd week of June?).

Can anyone else confirm (or deny) that?

It sounds accurate to me - reports have been coming in that dealers aren't accepting orders anymore. Ron Stygar was pretty cagey in his reply to your post on Bimmerfest, and most definitely he, AndyM, and JonM know (and Jon just bought one. People have been stalling, hoping for a fire sale like last winter, and I've been saying they were going to be disappointed. The factory needs the capacity for the X6, which I'm hearing has sold out the 2008 production run already.

My experience was that $8-10k reductions on the non-M Z4's occurred in '05 and '06. Wasn't in the market in '07 :P. Those kind of deals may not start until September or so. It's possible the M could get serious mark downs but seems the dealer holds off on that until absolutely necessary.

The huge discounts were offered from '03 all the way up to '07. You're probably right that they won't be available this year though.

Well - we all knew that the Z4 was coming to an end. No surprises there. It is a great little car. I agree with the posters above. I do not think there will be a lot of deals to be had. Next round of deals will start when 3-year leased 2006 models come back to the dealer.

I am one of the losers who ordered mine MSRP in January 2006. Due to a car change my lease will end in September 2009. I will NEVER buy it for the residual. I may be able to get mine cheaper because most people do not want a 2-seat sportscar in September :D - will see if the dealership plays ball.

There were alot of deals made out there (mine included). BMW is also aggresively targeting certain models (Z4 is one of them) for early lease termination for conversion to purchase. There were also wicked lease offers this spring on 08 Z4's to BMWNA employee's. I think you are hitting it dead on that there is going to be an incredible amount of Z4's coming in (lease's) at the end of 08 into 09. Bottom line, I love the car, but with the large lease and purchase price differences out there you have to do your homework. I really can not hope to find a lower monthly payment than I have now so I intend to look into the possibility of lease extension when the time comes. Hopefully they will be happy to keep the car off their lots for another 12 months.

There were no Coupes (M or non-M) in production when I took a factory tour at the end of March. Maybe 8-10 Roadsters were being built and most of those were Right Handers. They were only making X’s. Since the M Coupe is now no longer assigned as an allocation but a Priority 1 order, I suspect BMW is waiting and will make one last batch of them. Whether that is June, July, or whenever, who knows. I think if you are waiting on getting one off the lot at a huge discount, you will be disappointed. Since the cars are only being built as sold cars now, dealers will not have them unless someone backs out on a deal.

Lease extension is a smart strategy in your case! Good thinking John!

My z-4 is my dreamcar. This is my first lease, and if the new body is as expensive as I am hearing, I would love to purchase mine if BMW makes me a deal at lease end. A lease extension is something I have never heard of but I might be interested.
