Fiber optic cable in the door

I searched but couldn't find anything, I came across a fiber optic cable behind the doorcard presumably for an option I don't have, any ideas what it's for?

Door handle illumination? Just a guess, I know it was an option.

Door handle illumination is done by leds inside the handles. The E85 has fiber optic byteflight bus for safety module communication and airbag deployment. You have probably found the cable for the side airbag...

It wasn't connected to the airbag (unless it loops back round) it's the green block below the airbag, could be a side impact sensor but I'd have thought that would be mounted rather than just on the end of a wire.

Here’s some instructions about the sensor. According to TIS it is in the front edge of the door.
