Anyone driven one of these before? I've got a few days in Tenerife coming up and got a good deal on renting one of these. Should be good fun when getting up in the mountains, it's got a LSD so the winding roads should be a good laugh.

I’m in Tenerife just now. Had one on hire today. I must say I enjoyed it. A bit more frantic than the straight six as expected but was the best soft top available. Just had it for the day and went up to Mount Tiede then headed further north just for the twisty stuff. Not long back but a cheap fun day out

Nice! Well it’s booked for 5 days, so I’ll get some decent driving in along the coast line and up the volcano....shame I can’t take the M with me!

Saying this as both a road and MTB biker, hopefully on the coastal roads there’ll be less cyclists than there was going up Tiede. The gradient meant coming up on them very abruptly. Wasn’t anywhere near as bad heading north
Got back from a few days in Tenerife last week, and spent some good time exploring the island in this little thing. My expectations weren't high going in, but have to say I was massively surprised at just how fun the 124 Abarth really is. To my eye it's not the best looking of things, but then again almost everyone we encountered loved the look of it, they smiled and gave a lot of which really surprised me. The driving dynamics are fantastic, great gearbox, Brembo brakes, it rides really well, much better than an E85, with just the right level of stiffness for a road car with 170bhp. The exhaust is utterly comical, it's so loud and makes a fantastic noise for a car with a 1.4lt engine...you can definitely hear it coming from way down the road. Also, I know it's a Mazda mostly, but there is something cool about driving an Italian convertible when the weather is spectacular.
So, onto the roads in Tenerife....they are absolute motoring heaven.....what a place to drive a 1050k convertible car with a led and skinny tyres. The tarmac is perfect, the mix of scary tight volcano winding climbs and fast sweeping roads through long tunnels is brilliant. There is very little traffic if you set out at the right time and watching the sunset on the cruise back to the hotel is lovely thing.
For any Z4 owner I can't recommend enough spending a few days driving the island, it really is epic...! The car cost £200 for 5 days rental with unlimited mileage and two drivers from Cicar.com....overall spent £30 fuel and got 45mpg....excellent value!
