Ffs...

Data protection arguement here is a load of nonsense. What data are they protecting exactly? The reg number of the offending vehicle? The one the gave you anyway!
Another scourge of modern society, data protection spouted left right and centre by muppets with no concept of what it actually means/involves.
It's no secret on here I don't like the OP but you don't like to see/hear this sort of thing.
If it was my car after the initial shock/annoyance I'd just be glad the headlight was still intact. Most of us on here know how much a facelift xenon costs new and that they're extremely hard to source secondhand.
If it were me I'd be back on to the cops armed with the reg and the fact there is footage and insisting it's a crime and I want action. If they give you the brush off I'd formally complain to their PSB department. That should do the trick!

Did that, and all you get is a letter stating that they do not have the resources for this if there are no injuries blah blah, followed by a generic bit of cr*p stating what they put their resources on.

I have long lost faith in "justice" where they hound you to death for a few miles over the limit with no expenses spared, but when there is a real proven crime issue, they don't want to know.

Obviously they'll be regional differences but all I can say is this worked with GMP when something similar happened to my wife's x5 a few years back. Couldn't be bothered at first but by the end of it they done a proper job and even told us the car park at the chill factory manchester had anpr as well as cctv, which we hadn't spotted. They found the van driver went to his employers and he basically got sacked for his dishonesty and then done by the cops as well. We would have been happy just getting he bumper fixed but i guess it was all his own fault. Seems to work with Gmp I know a few others who have used this tactic and got action for various things especially if you mention taking it to the ipcc or what they're calling it this week. They really don't like it when you do that!
Its amazing how Gmp got out to Jaime Carragher and the sleaze bag that filmed him in record time for next to nothing but took three weeks to visit a mate of mine who was assaulted by his neighbour and then only after he went to PSB. Intersting too how the sleaze bag is going on a awareness course for being on the phone despite that supposedly being stopped as an option for phone offences in March last year.

What a sod :x

I've had this happen twice to me - once in a Morrisons car park where the entire front wing of my black Z3M was stoved in. Culprit drove off - no cctv. Then back in my early twenties somebody completely trashed the back end of my Rover 220 Coupe turbo whilst it was parked in a cul-de-sac outside a friends house. Again, just left the scene. Never found out who did either.

The is in addition to loads of dents from clumsy car door opening. I'm so paranoid where I park now it's unbelievable...then when you come back to a row of empty spaces and somebody with a car full of kids parks right next to you it really boils my piss.

But even when you are in the car and you catch them, it does not help a lot. A Range Rover opened his door in my Audi which had my son and daughter in it at the time, all he said was "what are you going to do about it" and walked off.

And they tell you that you are not allowed to take the law in your own hands??

If that had been me, he would have come back to 2 flat tyres

Big risk he took, not sure I would have had your restraint.

I was not there, this is what was said to my son / daughter who were in the parked car.

Secondly, it will always be sods law that your action will be captured on CCTV and you end up with the trouble.

Sorry sight to see... at least you've "got her"! Too many times bad things happen and no-one is found to blame aiding the frustration!

See I'd never take out tyres...

Headlights are way more expensive these days, rear valance is probably quite an easy one to snap too on a baller RR.

Its more the inconvenience factor, with 2 flat tyres he would be kinda stuck. lol
