Thank you!

Working in an office of 1500 I would be grateful if those who were suffering stayed home or wore one of these!
Office of 4500 for me...and one huge communal dining area.
Office of 1..me in my van

After ending up in IC for 3 months with Pericarditis and no diagnosis I'm inclined to think masks in general aren't such a bad idea.

About a week after I got out of hosi I was standing in a queue when a d!ckhead behind me sneezed. I felt it on the back of my neck. I turned around and berated him for not covering his mouth, to which he started jibbering something in Turkish back at me. So I bitchslapped him, then washed my hands.

You're foolish to think taking any sort of precautions isn't worth it if you value it yourself.
You're arrogant to scoff at others for taking precautions whether you think it's worth it or not.

Is it girly week Chris...?? :P

It’s a Friday night jokey dig at the mild hysteria that’s brewing with some folk....same as when a snowflake lands and everybody wants to go home in case it drifts.....

Put your panties back on and chill honey...

3 months in IC with something I probably caught from some disease-ridden splutterer was no laughing matter John.
I would have thought you of all people would appreciate how susceptible at going into bad health we can be!

Having done a lot of travelling in Asia and the Far East I am used to seeing ,on any normal day, dozens of people walking around wearing masks (most noticeably in Japan and China ) in the pursuit of their normal daily business . The common perception is that they are avoiding toxins and other peoples germs , but in fact they do this because they are indeed feeling unwell themselves and do not want to pass their germs on to others. Very considerate .

To be fair I think us Brits could take a lesson or too from East Asians in general hygiene and not wishing to pass on germs, I mean at work the amount of people I see leaving the bogs after having a dump without washing their hands is pretty disgusting really.

As we have to hot desk at work now I use my own PC mouse and keyboard cover and wipe the phone over with antiseptic wipes, not that I'm paranoid or anything :)

We live our way of life in peril.

I used a dedicated terminal at work but prior to my retirement a young graduate engineer was tasked to cover some of my work - I had previously seen him emerge from the traps and not wash his hands and like you I also wouldn’t touch the keys, mouse or space ball. The tasks were often urgent but I would not bend- it sometimes caused conflict but so what !

I also saw a Tesco staff member come from the traps and not wash his hands - he’s not working there now!

Basic decent hygiene that’s all.

Agree Ron is hygiene at the base level i.e. hand washing.

Indeed. The levels of respect and consideration for others held by Asians is on a level that most Brits under about 60 years old just couldn't comprehend.
Correct - I see this here a lot. It's them trying not to pass their sickness onto others, not the other way around (usually). When you're living in such close proximity to others like so many do in Asian cities, it's seen as very rude to do what happened to poor Chris above and sneeze all over some poor sod minding his business in the local chippie
Unfortunately, as John pointed out, the masks aren't much use against the virus, (perhaps a little?) you need an N95 mask, fitted properly, to do the job. Which kind of means that the Asian practice of wearing face masks when sick (if they have a virus), isn't much more than virtue signalling..... oh well

The 'usual' face masks that are worn, according to the wife, who wears them every working day, have a life expectancy of...................... 6 minutes :? She gets through one every patient at the dentist she works in.............. I guess something is better than nothing , but unless you completely cover all the gaps round the nose , its not going to make a massive difference.
I was at a meeting at a chinese company last week and they had more than usual hand gels and cleaners , cleaning door handles etc , so personal hygiene is and always should be a more prominent way to help prevent spreading.
