Few vids from my trackday at the weekend

I was at Knockhill on Saturday for an open pit lane trackday. All in all it was a great day, stayed dry all afternoon and the track got pretty quiet, so it was good. I set a PB laptime of 62.8s (with a theoretical best of 61.4) which I'm delighted with as I had hardly any life left in my front brake pads and my tyres were well past their best. Still got some meat left on them but I think they have been through too many heat cycles. Anything near the 60s mark in a standard road car and road tyres is considered mighty quick around Knockhill. For reference a standard GTR in the hands of a quick driver will do it in around 59s. There used to be a stripped CSL, with a BBK & slick tyres that would frequent Knockhill. He almost broke into the 59s mark. I fully believe with some fresh tyres & brake pads that I can get the Z4M round in 60s.

Anyway, here is one of the quicker sessions at the start of the afternoon:

Fastest lap starting at around 8.20m mark - as soon as I got past the pesky Clios.

After setting my PB I decided not to push the car any harder. So I spent the rest of the afternoon just messing around;

I think it's safe to say that I'm much better at going round corners quickly rather than sideways, however, it was all good fun and the first time I have ever purposely tried getting the rear end out.

I'll upload my other videos of lapping properly shortly. I have some good footage of me playing with a M3 but unfortunately he was just too slow to stay behind for consecutive laps.

Enjoy :driving:

Good skills, seemed to be using plenty of the track.

Clio's are surprisingly quick on track, they carry speed quite well through corners.

Good skills. :thumbsup:

After a fair bit of practice, I can now drift my roadster. It is more difficult than other BMW's I have had and is quite "snappy".

Next time, try "pumping" the throttle:

So after you have given it a bootful and the rear has largely stepped out, you are counter steering and the diff is locked up, you come off the power, then hard on the power again, then off, then hard on, etc. You can then modulate the time on and off to keep the back out and hold a drift. That's the way I am able to do it with decent control anyway.
