Hi,

Just purchased a Z4 and have the following questions:

1. Few scuffs on 108's therefore looking at refurbishment, however have RFT's, which I would like to replace with 452's therefore wondering what order i go for? Replace RFT with some 452's then refurbish or the other way?

2. Wind Deflector. I have a 2004 Z4 and the wind deflector fits over the roll bars, with little clips which are ______> well like that, about 4-5 each side. For the life of me I can't work out how to attach the thing lol. Any ideas? 2 of the clips will sort of fasten but then im left with 3-4 on either side that wont fit anywhere.

Thanks,

Steve

I'd say refurbish then replace tyres. :)

As for that bloody awful strap-on deflector, it screams C-H-E-A-P-S-K-A-T-E....stick on ebay for £50 then go spend a couple of hundred on the looks-like-it-was-fitted-at-the-factory proper jobbie, you won't regret how C-O-O-L it makes you look! The other one belongs in a fetish shop.

In the same way that some folks big up the buttplug they call a stubby, I'd outlaw strap-on wind deflectors if I were in charge! LOL

So the perspex/glass one or the mesh one go for?

Would you get it from BMW and get them to fit it or...

Yeah, refurbish, checked out this site as its just up the road from me:

http://www.wheelgenie.co.uk/index.shtml

and going for Apex Tyres in Peterborough for FK 452's My mate worked for a racing team and they took their wheels there and they did a good job.

perspex, shmerspex...nooooooo! :D Not sure where you'd get one in the UK anyway but they look so home-made don't they!

I'd get the proper OEM one - easier to get the stealer to fit it as it needs the rol hoops drilled for the fixings (as well as the boot lid mounting), ask them for a discount or something, nothing to lose. Don't forget you should get £50 for your strap-on!

But don't listen to me, let someone else have a go LOL

Hi

I've got a spare OEM honeycomb wind deflector I can let you have. ( I bid for two on ebay and won both). The list price is £285 or thereabouts I paid £45.00 plus postage of £8.00. I'll let you have it for £53.00 plus postage. You will still need to get the stealer to fit the brackets, but you would have to do that anyway. If you are interested PM me

Cheers nick

To be accurate, £285 (and you might get it cheaper) gets you the whole shooting works, not just the middle section (so thats not a fair statement regarding list price TBH) - it includes the main deflector, the brackets installed to the rollover hoops (and I'm not sure if the hoop covers aren't replaced as well), the permanent infill panels that go inside the hoops, plus the brackets fitted to the bootlid to stow the thing when not in use....all done by your friendly dealer to a proper standard

It always peeves me that people can be so tight as to remove the one bit that isn't screwed down and flog it on ebay as if its the complete thing. :x I often make a point of mailing them to ask where the rest of it is, just to piss them off :D

usually the roll hoops need replacing as they break when taken apart... But the $tealer orders those separately as when I bought mine it had a hole in the mesh, $tealer sent out a new kit which was the middle panel and the roll over inserts - personally it looks a right faff to fit it...

They replace the lot :) Getting a deal from the main dealer on this, hourly rate, discount of 10% to start with, we can work that down too :)

Lacroupade you really should check your facts before accusing someone of being dishonest! as you will see below, from the (american) BMW parts catalogue, all of the parts in the set up are priced separately. The ;middle bit; as you called itis priced at $344.95. I was trying to be helpful in offering a spare wind deflector, but as always on these forums, there's always a suspicious know all willing to impute ulterior motives

Won't speculate on who's right, but apparently:

Part # 54347117746 is £126 in the UK - the single middle item
Part # 54347117745 is £170 in the UK - apparently a set.
These prices from a dealer, not RealOEM guesses.

US prices will of course differ.
