Few Pics of E89 and Install

Yeh I got paddles too, didn't know there were different types of knob as my first e89 was manual.

That is a great job there! Given the slow responding standard head unit I have, I may just be tempted to go the whole hog.

Can I ask, did you have to do anything special to clear the heater console trim with the pop up display? If not does it sit at a good angle for viewing?

Oh and that's just like my knob!!

You should also have manual from the stick Hunter. Push it left while in D (I think it's left and not right on the older auto sticks). It clicks over and you can then push or pull it to change manually.

I had looked a Clarion head unit also but that one wouldn't of cleared…so you need to be careful with the choice…the one i have is perfect. The view sreen is also touch screen and all the icons are nice and large…it just all works really well.

Great, thanks for the info. Given how much that section sticks out its good to know it can be done. Shall start investigating the options, as frankly it looks like a good head unit would rival the iDrive for functionality (obviously I could be very mistaken). I have a similar spec to you so understand the need to improve it.

Oh and Maniac is spot on, also got the same auto box as you and you should be able to use the stick in manual mode by pushing it left, then forward or back to select gear. Though I guess i'm just lazy and for the most part use auto, with the odd paddle flick
