Felt like I was being judged

Today I drove back from a quick visit to Scotland . Coming down the M74 it was lashing down , terrible vis , wipers struggling to keep up , typical Scotland . I of course had the roof up , as I thought that was sensible . Until I came upon two old boys in their MGs ..One Frogeye , one Midget ... Hats , gloves coats , wife on the passenger seat ....and roof down taking the full brunt of the weather . As I went past I could see them look at me in my top up wimpy coffee in the holder climate controlled comfort and judge me ..and that judgment I think was harsh .. I was nothing to them I was but the hoi polloi , the roof down only when the sun shines masses .

You big Jessie! Bet the wives would have been in the BMW without a second thought!

Shame on you , E86 next step :D

Yes, but their MG/Sprite probably had enough rust holes in the floorpan that the water runs out like a colander  . You were justified in not wanting a Z4 bathtub

Shame on you, roof should always be down. :driving: Plus, stops the rain running off into the roof drains and motor if it's in the foot well.

I never understand why people drive with the top down on a motorway, do they like the sounds of tyre roar from lorries and coaches?

No they like to hear the sound of their engine.

And in answer to the question re the MG; having just sold one I know that by the time they had stopped, put up the soft top they would be drenched anyway so may as well just carry on :driving:

You wait till you come out on a blast, roof down all the way :poke:
We have just got back from the ACE cafe and it was roof down all the way home, along the A40. M40 and it was raining most of the way :)

I don't think these guys ever had the roof up . I don't think the frog even had a roof unless it was rolled up in the boot .

Don't forget the North Circular. I mean, if that little road trip doesn't inspire you to drop the hood, nothing ever will!

Why on earth would the owner of an MG with a 4-pot OHV engine want to listen to it? Other than to diagnose the next fault maybe. An M54 maybe, an N52 definitely or an S54 essential.

But BMW gave us the E86 to avoid the need for umbrellas! :P

So true - with the Frogeye it's much easier to push on regardless
Keep moving and you won't end up too wet - mine doesn't have any floor coverings, so it matters not that the hood leaks like a sieve

Mine had a custom exhaust which made quite a nice sound actually :P
