Felt Good

On the way back from Advance Auto, I was sitting at a light when I silver souped upTC pulls up. Air scoop on the hood, ground effects, stupid neon lights everywhere and one of those coffee can mufflers that sounds like a bad dirt bike. I had the top down so he starts racing his engine, like he wants to race... God those things sound gross......

I just look over and shake my head no.

Then I look forward. The light changes to green and he takes off. I don't know what came over me but I let him get about a car length ahead then punched it.

Ran past him like he was sitting still, waving by by.... :nahnah:

I don't normally do crap like that. You never know what the other guy has under the hood.

About a mile down the road, I had to stop at another light. 20 secs later he pulls up. I look over and he would not even look over at me. Some 20 something kid....no grace in losing...

I blow these guys kisses. Since i've got a 2.5, most everyone can beat me in a straight line.

Yep. you are right.

Get most of these guys on a curvy road, they are toast.
My best friend and racing buddy, has a Corvette and he really likes how the Z handles....

Shipkiller, you got an //M??

Only car that's ever shown me up was a beautiful white convertable Mustang on a straight two lane 55mph road. After a couple of 0-60 runs (he blew my socks off both times) a few lights down I pulled up next to him and we exchanged smiles and  . I chuckled and told him I thought he had much more under the hood than I did and he responded, "yea, but you've got all the class in that car". :D Nice fella.

//M

Negative. Just a 2.5L with some tweaking that I have done in the last three weeks.

I just checked, the Scion TC only has a 2.4L 165hp motor. But the 2.5L Z specs out at 185hp with more torque.

Of course the TC is front wheel drive so his drive train losses will be less than the Z.

That Mustang probably had a 4.6L supercharged engine.......

I put a Paxton supercharger on my F-150. Bolt on. Only took about four hours. THAT's how I get 325hp at the rear wheel with a 4x4...

On the track we drive a Miata. VIR is the place to be down here in VA...

My wife says that I cannot take the Z4 to the track until I get the tranny fixed in the truck.

Flyboyaj, remember, I have the same year Z as you...

but a question on a different topic.

How do you like the Xenon headlights? Was it a hard upgrade? Expensive?

I like to Tinker with my cars. Try new things, but stay inside the cost/performance ratio. I have had 'Cold Air Intakes' on all my vehicles, including my wifes 2006 Accord. While cleaning the plugs today (different thread) I really scoped out the intake system on the engine. I don't think a 'Cold Air Intake' would do much good for the price you have to pay for them. The BMW stock intake piping is really a good design.
But a different air filter may be just the ticket. I have been researching the Helene Air Filter. Looks promising, and not very expensive.

Everyone here swears by the Helene performance filter. Battlewagon shows up once in a while. He's the guy selling them.

Ah, yea, I had forgotten. So many people to remember on here, my cluttered mind just can't keep track of it all. I need a personal secretary! :headbang:

I love the Xenon headlights! They were on the Z when I bought her. I don't tinker, I just drive the piss out of her. It's really kewl when then "wink" when they come on (auto adjustment of some sort). And the crispness of the light at night is amazing. I love the brights on a tree lined road - the light is so defined that you can see the arc they create against the trees - hard to describe, you'd have to see it for yourself. It's really kewl! 8)

I'm almost at my 60,000 mile inspection II. I can't wait to get her all cleaned up inside and running better. I don't know if I'm just getting used to her or if she is just a little dirty but she is starting to feel like she's lost a little bit of power. A good tune-up will make me feel so much better about driving her so hard all the time

Hey flyboyaj, they are supposed to be a little dirty, at least when at home in the ... garage. :)
It makes it that much more enjoyable

Maybe the lack of power is due to you driving her too hard . . . go easy on her and give her time to recover

Meanwhile go get it out on the truck or something :P :D

 LOL. Thanks!!! Today is a truck day. Just changed his oil, wiper blades, and filled him with windshield washer fluid on Friday. Now I gotta get off my lazy bum and scrub some pop stains out of the seat and passenger floor that I've been putting off for about 2 months. He needs a bath too, but it's too cold for that here today.

Yea, I like it when they are dirty at home and get all cleaned up when I take 'em out.

Um, I assume we are talking about the soda variety?

 LOL baugelli. Yes, I am a very nice and very giving guy as you know and a subordinate of mine wrecked his car a few months back and I let him borrow my truck (wx was forecast to be awesome all week for top down zed driving) for a few days until the insurance money came thru and he could go out and buy another car. Well, he trashed the truck. Spilled coffee and red soda-pop on the seats and passenger floor, smoked in it, got rear-ended and didn't tell me about it (no damage to the truck), and returned the truck dirty and the low-fuel light was on. Plus, while he had it somehow someone put a dent and a few scratches in the hood. He didn't know how that happened and just shrugged his shoulders when I asked him about it. I thought he was a good kid. He's no longer employed with us.

Kids these days!!! I'll leave it at that - my views on that topic might upset many of you. :fuelfire:

Wow, that really sucks. I'm surprised he didn't spill any beer in it. At the very least he should have had the truck washed and the tank topped off before giving it back. If he didn't tell you about the accident, and there's no damage, how did you find out about it?

Tonight was my night to attract the "something to prove" bozos. Started with an S2000 all over my butt in traffic. He finally flew by me on the right and almost hit the mini van I was passing. Then I ended up next to a Mustang GT with blacked out windows and who started revving his engine at a light (both of us turning left, me on the inside). This one I couldn't resist, so I jumped on it off the light and beat him to the point the two lanes become one, then dropped it down to the 25 mph speed limit. He actually pulled up beside me when he turned right to roll his window down and flip me off. He got his blown kiss and then he proceeded to burn rubber around the corner right past the chip giving a ticket. Gotta say, that put a smile on my face.

i can beat anyone... :D I usually drop from 5th to 3rd going 60mph man that feeeeels REALLL good :)

i just hit 70k today ahhhhh

I love driving the Z!!! even with the 2.5 :)

Insurance company called wanting to talk to the driver of my vehicle from the 24 August accident. I told them neither of my vehicles has been in an accident, then it dawned on me that Bozo had the truck that day. I looked at the rear bumper, and indeed found a very small dent and the electric connector for the tow package was bent in a tad. Some dude had rear ended the truck and apparently had a lot of damage. I told the insurance company I didn't want to file a claim, I'd live with the dent and bend back the elect mount with a pliers. I'm living with the dent and scratches in the hood too - no worries - it's a truck - it adds character.
