Feeling suspicious about a Zed seller

Had a conversation with a seller recently who told me he's owned his Zed for a few months but is moving to Dubai with work. He said the previous owner had the car for 4 years. I ran a HPI check and the last purchase date was 2011. I asked the guy why this was and he said because he didn't put his name on the logbook because he didn't plan on keeping the Zed for long because of Dubai. This just doesn't sound right to me. If he got a speeding ticket the previous owner would be responsible. Am I right to be suspicious?

the previous owner should have filled in the log book and sent it off to the dvla

I'd say he's probably bought it to sell on. Possibly a Trader. The car may be straight but he won't know the car / history. You could try contacting the guy who owned it for 4 years.

All of the above. Walk away.

You're only hesitating because you're thinking it's too good to be true!!

Well if he's only owned it for a few months it's certainly since the changes in road tax which mean that if the previous seller sent his part of the V5 off (you are MAD not to now as you are liable for all sorts down to the new owner if you don't) and the new guy didn't either then it hasn't been taxed since he's owned it as tax expires with the change of keeper. not worth getting involved in... I'd walk
