It's almost new! Apologies if this is answered on another thread - but why did you lose it so early?

(I asked for OEM parking sensors to be fitted by way of compensation for the car having lack of hill assist)

Just don't ask them to fit parking sensors to your car. Feckin cowboys.

Oh shite, I just went out and checked this as I don't remember the sensors going off as we parked. There are NO sensors on the rear bumper. Silly question but i assume there should be - right? Or does the Zed have some sort of advance rear sensing system that I don't know about??

I remember asking the salesman twice and also my gf asked whether there were sensors on the car to which he had said yes.

Maybe I have to enable them??

If you have PDC as an option (park distance control) this is on the front and rear of the car. I don't have it on mine, and I've not managed to damage the car yet in nearly 3 years! However, I did nudge another car on my front bumper once, they weren't impressed ;) That bonnet is miles away!

If they said it was included, then it should have been... did you check the list of extras on the sales brochure for this car?

I did and it was not listed, but nor was the auto lights/wipers and I was glad it had them.

I think the auto lights and wipers is now standard (I could be wrong), used to be optional other than 35i and higher... PDC was always optional though. Best to check with the dealer...

Just checked on the BMW website builder and the 20i and up now has auto lights and wipers as standard over prior models, so there's a nice freebie..

My first trip to a main dealer after purchasing my Z4 was a bit of a bad introduction to BMW ownership. Maybe the dealership was having a bad day, maybe I was unlucky, who knows.

However, I decided that another dealer may be able to change my jaded opinion of BMWs and their dealer network. I decided to give Rybrook Shrewsbury a try and was glad I did. :D I got in touch with the After Sales Manager beforehand to explain why I was coming to his garage and I have to say, when I arrived the service was exemplary. I was able to talk through all of the issues with the senior technician, who has worked there for 15 years and gave me a feeling of confidence. Also the chap on the service desk couldn't do enough and he was more than happy to check the bodywork before they took the car - a top tip from a few of you who replied to one of my less upbeat postings a while ago. I know the positive vibe wasn't just a new customer thing as you could hear the same approach given to others bringing their cars in.

Bottom line is all the issues are fixed (I hope!); I was not charged for the blocked washer filter, which I know some others have been, and my car was so shiny after its valet that I thought it had been dunked in wax.

I could be wrong but I think this is the same outfit that ajayp collected his new 2.0i from today...?

You got it right buddy I was there today from 2pm onwards. We're you also there?

I must say the handover at the dealer was absolutely fantastic. They couldn't have done any more and really took their time explaining everything and just were so accommodating. I mean I have never experienced service like this from all members in the dealership. From the receptionist to the guy locking up. Worth every bit the 4 hour drive there and back. If I were to buy another I know exactly where my money would go.

Hi ajayp. Glad all went well for you and I won't even ask if you're enjoying the car - course you are! :D Yes, I was there from 2pm to 4pm. In fact I was sitting a few feet away from the Space Grey 2.0i you included a photo of. The annoying thing is you have endless free coffee, Coke etc while you're waiting but I'd eaten a pasty in Shrewsbury (not something I normally do) and I felt like I'd eaten a house brick. So I had to let all those freebies pass me by

If you saw an indian guy walking about going to the loo like a thousand times. It was me..... :D
Just to clear up things I dont have a tummy trouble, just love my tea. An as a result had 8 cups in the space of 4 hours!

After white I love that space grey colour and would be my choice if I ever bought one.

Blimey! That was a thread and a half. Didn't know you'd had such a bad experience and it's a testament to your tenacity. I suppose the old aphorism "all's well that ends well" is applicable here. :)

I'm glad they eventually did the right thing - it's just a shame they had to have their back against the wall before they did it. I know when I had a problem with BT (a company people love to slag off), I was absolutely fuming. But, to their credit, they handled it brilliantly and it cost them very little in monetary terms. And I've lost count of the number of people I've told how impressed I am with BT. Thing is they usually roll their eyes and say: "oh that shower..." :P

Don't get me wrong I was very grateful together a new car and I would have been happy as but the DP ruined it for me when I collected the new one by trying, yet again to cheat us and blatantly go against something bmw finance had specifically told him not to do and he tried to do it.
It was a lovely hand over otherwise. I had a massive bouquet, the car was covered in the showroom and I had the big reveal but then he just put a massive taint on what should have been a great experience.
There was a load of other stuff that had gone on with them that I didn't want to put on here for obvious reasons. If BMW uk hadn't got involved and were on side with us I don't know what the outcome would have been.
By the way you can thank me for your good hand over experiences I think as I 'brought it to bmw uk and the dealers attention' the hand over of my brand new bmw (first one) compared to the hand over of a second hand C1, 'budget car' for my son from the garage across the road from them was shocking in its difference.
I hope they have learned a lesson and upped their game because they'll lose customers if they don't.

A car for your son!!
Was it a toy car coz you can't be old enough for your son to have a driving licence?

Front & rear sensors are the same, little round bits. If you can't see them, then they are not there.

Had a chat with the dealer yesterday and it will be sorted.

They will come and pickup the car an take all the way back to their dealer and retrofit BMW OEM ones. They will also cover any fuel costs.

Happy with all that except the fact that there will be an additional minimum 300 miles roundtrip clocked up as a result.

have you got the idrive/nav system? if so when the PDC is active you should get a visual display of it on the screen, make sure this is included in the retrofit.

What? Noooooooo!
They can't retrofit oem ones. It needs a new bumper. Read my parking sensors post for gods sake.
