@mr wilks - yeah I do like the 326s but think they're a bit big, would like to stick to 18s on the coupe :)

Its all about the tyres J , step up to 19s with the right make & size you should not feel any difference behind the wheel from 18s
Tried all sorts of combos & i didn't like 19s with 35 front & 30 rear profile on previous 2.5 roadster
 
I'm just doing some research on the 326 and there's lots of accounts of those cracking also (make me wonder if putting them on a heavier E86 is a good idea) so it's not just the 216s that suffer by the sounds of it.

Generally the OEM wheels that suffer cracking are rears & predominantly this is caused not by weight of car but due to the hard sidewall of the runflat tyres together with the relatively small sidewall
A straight set with decent rubber & slightly upped profiles is no more likely to crack than any other wheel style
That's just my own thoughts & experience of course :wink:
