Feel like crying! Broken rear window!

The dealer replaced the roof on my first Z when they washed it against my wishes.

The new roof fabric with glass was about £600 at the time.

Why did the roof need replacing just because it had been washed, was it in some way damaged?

Yep - one carwash by the dealer despite me always getting them to add it to the paperwork each time …

 
That's odd. I'm assuming it's one of those automatic ones we're talking about and not the bosnian style ones?
 
That's rotton luck re your glass, I feel for you matey ,I've done things that end in financial pain as well , and afterwards think I took my time following the instructions but why the effing hell did I do that , my advice suck it up and get on with the replacement ASAP when it's all fixed , just forget about it , and in years to come when you are sat in your nursing home that your kids picked for you you will laugh about it .when I was in my twenties and working offshore I could have gone and permanantly lived some where nice warm sunny and dry, but I bottled it and ended but living here in this rain soaked S*** hole, so time is a healer mate , move on.
 
I've found a replacement soft top canvas with glass on eBay

Part number stated in the ad is: 54347056277 however having looked on RealOEM http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=BT52&mospid=47797&btnr=54_0311&hg=54&fg=10 there are multiple parts for the roof.

1. Folding top with head lining and
2. COVER, FOLDING TOP

What is the difference between the two parts? The part advertised on the eBay listing is for COVER, FOLDING TOP.

Wouldn't mind a red roof but to be honest finances are very tight at the moment and need to keep cost to minimum and get the car back on the road. So I'll probably have to stick to black. Any idea of how you change the soft top canvas on existing framework or is there guide out there somewhere?
