So I just did my oil change today and I reset the maintenance count-down back to 25000km. The reset operation is well documented in most bimmer forums:
My question is, did anybody notice that there are a whole bunch of other things that the onboard computer keeps track of in this "test mode" (right after you turn the key from 0 to 1)? If you just play with the buttons a bit you will find a shxt-load of numbers that looks like the "last changed" mileage numbers to me. There must be about 10 - 15 different numbers on that system coded 1.1 to 1.12 or something..... DOES ANYONE HAVE THE MANUAL THAT EXPLAINS THESE THINGS? I can't stop thinking about it now...
- by holding the set/reset button while turning the key from 0 to 1.
- If you wanted to reset the oil change counter you'd hold down the set/reset for another couple seconds till it prompts you for a "reset?" confirmation.
- Press the set/reset one last time to actually reset the counter.
