myself & friends read Razzle over & over in our early teens 
more seriously i have read many books but only 3 have been memorable enough to want to read again .
recommend to anyone & money well spent
"Its not about the bike" Lance Armstrong / motivation & determination personified
"Endurance" Albert Lansing / tenacity & will to survive that goes beyond comprehension
& "Rich dad poor dad " Robert Kiyosaki / if i had read this in my 20's instead of my 40's i would now be retired :roll:

The first book I went through on my own, without any pressure exerted by the teachers, was Andersen's fairy tales. In Polish Andersen sounds quite scary and almost Gothic, complete with awesome illustrations by Jan Marcin Szancer. Decades later, it was quite a disappointment to read it in English - polished and art-nouveau, a kind of dilluted Oscar Wilde.
LOTR or any of James Herriot books
I'm with Jimbo1958 but you forgot 'Hells Angel'.
My favourite book was "The Happy Warrior" me Gran bought me it and it was a big red book about the life of Winston S Churchill but in comic book style - it was like reading a long comic so I kept returning to it again and again. A friend showed me a copy recently and it felt so good to be looking through it I went on the net and bought an old copy. Brilliant.
