Faulty roof

Had my z4 nearly 2 years a just love it. Trouble is the roof has stopped working, the motor is making a noise but nothing happening. Also it looks as if the previous owner has removed the roof a few times, rubber seal that is attached to the roof does not seem to want to stay attached to the body of the car. Can you get a new seal or is it a whole new roof? Sorry for the silly questions but just not too sure. Read elsewhere on the forum that I should get the motor for the roof moved into the boot, so I'll try and contact Durham dave to get this done.

Hi all, I'm New to the forum and wondering if someone could help. My roof has stopped working. It unlatches and the windows go down a bit and I can hear the motor running but the roof doesn't go down. Anyone have any suggestions?

Is the motor you can hear the front claws or the rear hydraulic motor ?

If it’s the rear one still running check the red hoop on the boot hasnt been pulled.

Number5 gives good advice as usual.

Can you move the roof up and down easily by hand once it has unlatched?

It definitely sounds like the hydraulic motor that is running, I've checked the red hook in the boot and it seems to be latched OK. When it is unlatched I can move the roof up and down easily enough

Can you move the roof easy by hand when the red hook is in the latched position?
