Faulty rear view mirror and rear screen demister ... Linked?

Hey guys,

Just seen a few posts on here about faulty rear demisters. Mine is not working either, but since I only just tried it for the first time in months I'm not sure how long it's been faulty. I also have a problem with my rear view mirror not auto dimming any more. Does anyone know whether these 2 things could be linked? I did see a comment about doing a window reset to cure the demister, but I desperately want to try and sort the mirror, especially as it's a lot darker now :(

Any help would be much appreciated.

Can only think there linked if they get power through the same fused circuit. Need to check the fuses to see if this is the case. Out of UK at the momemnt so no access to a circuit diagram so perhaps someone else can confirm. Sounds like two seperate faults to me though. :(

My father has just had the same problem with regards to the rear de-mister. I managed to fix this problem by resetting the windows by putting them all the way down and keeping hold of the button for 10 seconds and the same on the way back up. Then, put the roof all the way down ensuring it has completed it's cycle and the windows have come back up, then put the roof back up again ensuring it has completed it's cycle by letting the windows come back up, and there you should have it, complete. It worked for us anyway :)

Not sure if they are linked but my mirror never seems to autodim unless its at just the right angle which is annoyingly no where near where I like to have it positioned - has it been moved recently?

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll try the window reset for the demister.

Regarding the mirror, I checked the fuse for the electrochromic mirrors (25) and it appears to be ok. Any suggestions as to what else it might be? It did used to work a while ago.

Cheers :)
