Faulty GM5 module

Hi all, My 53 plate [ LM53VVZ ] has a faulty gm5rd module and I can't find a second hand unit with matching numbers to mine !
I don't want any software/code problems, so can anyone tell me what these numbers mean and their relevance?
Thanks and regards

Hi Tony

I can repair the gm5 for you

Or you can replace your gm5 with any gm5 5star module (as opposed to the later 12 star gm5)

Hi Stuart, Thanks for the response. How do I identify a 5star from a 12star and will any 5star not need coding?
I would prefer green saving the original, however, the cost is a factor.
How much to refurbished and what is turnaround please ?
Kind regards,
Anthony

Evening

Yours being an early car looks like a 5 star gm5- gm5rd

I think a few chaps on here have gm5 for sale; Barry @Umfaan for example can sell you one that suits- after install the only recoding that needs doing to your car is to relink the keys, which is done by a simple key press sequence

I am happy to refurbish the bad relays on your gm5 for you but you’ll need to remove it and send it to me- the relays aren’t expensive and it’s not a long job so £25 should cover it and I’ll post it back to you.

Let me know what works

Stuart

Im new to the BMW scene and someone suggested this website https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/select to look up compatible parts. Good Luck! If you find a compatible one keep the old one. Have it sent out and rebuilt. When I was looking at my car there was a gm5 in the trunk. When I bought it I asked for it and he threw it away
