Well I posted on here a before xmas regarding the sale of my much loved Z4 and thoughts on part ex..

The Z did in fact sell within a couple of days of advertising privately on piston heads, and on meeting the buyer it seems to have gone to a good home. So it's farewell e85..

It was a great car and one thing I will miss is the top down driving during the summer months, however the private sale did help me to get a better deal.

I was initially looking at a 335i coupe which I was so close to buying, but in the end I decided on this..

A 135i coupe, approved from BMW, slightly less spec than the 335i, but it's a one owner with full BMWsh which certainly helps. My thoughts were that with the later production, colour, and m sport spec, it will hold better resale value. The black carbon trim has grown on me and the engine with a auto/trip-tronic box is simply outstanding. Heaps more power and torque than my 2.5 Z4.

I will stay on the forum (even though I'm Z4less) and will be using babybmw as my new source of knowledge.

All aside I haven't ruled out an e89 as a future car so watch this space..!

Thanks for all the help and optimised ownership of my Z.

Happy motoring :-)

Enjoy your new 135i 8) be good to hear how you are finding the car when you have had a few weeks to get used to it.

There is also a nice range and of 'BMW Performance' parts for the 1 Series

I used to have a 118 coupe company car in the same colour.. the interior is a much nicer place than the E85.

I'm sure your love the extra power too

Thanks for the feedback..!

Really pleased with the newbie it drives great! I'd be very interested to see how it fares up against a e89 35is as I'm assuming power to weight ratios will be quite similar?

In comparison to my e85 there's heaps more power, from 60mph onwards it just keeps going. Steering is tighter and more precise and the upright driving position with less bonnet makes it a lot easier to see up ahead. M sport seats also hold you and provide a higher level of comfort, along with the fatter m steering wheel.

I still love the Z4 marque and if a 35is was similarly priced for a like for like spec I would have considered one. Looks wise I think the e89 has a bit more flare, but for day to day drivability I would chose my 135. Oh yes, and the brakes provide loads of stopping power from high speed.

The only downside I've noticed so far is it can be a tad jumpy on the throttle around town, I don't know if this is just the high power models, or if I am not used to the later BMW shape. I have got used to this now and if you just feather the throttle it is not an issue.

It certainly offers a lot of "bang for buck" over an M3 and the fuel economy is still reasonable if you drive it sensibly.

I hope this thread is useful for anyone looking to change models or add to their collection.
