Fan has come on

Maybe a stupid question so sorry.
After a run in the Z4 this evening when I turned it off the fan came on or maybe was already on. Temp gauge is normal. It was a fairly lively run.
Is this normal. Only stayed on after shut down for a minute.
 
Think it may be a different fan on the ///M. But mine started running for a time, after I switched the engine off, shortly before it expired. Small fortune for a new one too. So hopefully it was just a warm engine.
 
Yep, normal on the Si - after giving it the beans on a 'spirited' run the electric water pump continues to run for a couple of minutes after switch off - along with the radiator fan to dissipate the heat. Apparently eliminates hotspots forming around the magnesium cylinder head.

Exactly the same on y ///M, the fan started running after the car switched off and then packed in soon after, as you say quite an expensive part to replace.
