Help!

Just had new rears fitted - couldn't get Falken 452s and was quoted 453s at £170 each. Searched around and managed to get a quote of £130 each for Falken of the right size fitted and balanced - was asked about two tread patterns and was temporarily caught out but said go for the 453s as they are a replacement for the 452.

After fitting I had a closer look at home and found the tyres were ZE 914 not 453s.

Been on to the tyre fitter and he says the others were not available and that the ZE 914s are a newer tyre and just as good and that I didn't seem to have a real preference - true at the time so no real argument there though I did expect 453s.

Been in contact with Falken and they tell me the tyres main difference is in the load ratings and that the 453s are specified for higher weight. . .

All very annoying/confusing - anyone got any experience of these tyres? Thanks

The FK453 is their performance tyre, the ZE914 is from the touring range, so completely different.

I'd be looking for a replacement, refund or heavy discount to keep using an inferior & unwanted tyre.

Mmm's spot on. You've been sold a Summer touring tyre with the same manufacturers name and are not the first to have had this done by a tyre fitter. Used to happen when the older 452's were in short supply.

I'd be firm with them. Make sure they swap for what you ordered

You have the absolute right to swap them to 453's or have a full refund if that's what you ordered.
If they told you of the substitution then you agreed, which I doubt as you found out later, then you'd have no claim.
