Falken FK452's or Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics

I went for Goodyears, I spent the extra since saw all the good reviews and trust the brand.

Unfortunatly this morning I was half way to work and my pressure warning came on  Pulled in a service station to try and find the problem. It was imediatly obvious when I could hear the hissing over the engine noise :o The right rear tyre had a bolt stuck in it, no chance of removing the thing either. The tyre is now beyond repair, it's only a few months old  I have to wait until Tuesday to get a replacement fitted too, so my car is out of action for the weekend.

Plus I have to drive home on a dodgy tyre..... Getting overtaken by trucks who are not too happy with me crawling along the motorway :(

Had the Falkens for around 6,000 miles now. £350 for four tyres and fitted, can't go wrong here at all. Great handling, even round tight corners on wet roads. I'm very impressed with the grip and the comfort they provide.

Agree that it does change the character of the car to when it was on run flats, but very much for the better in my opinion :D

£350 for 4 tyres
or
£400 for the two rear runflats

I'm sold!
Where can I get them from?

Not only are they cheaper, but I believe the Falkens have the best Tread wear rating compared to all the performance tires mentioned in these threads when people give recommendations.

Although, a small disclaimer, I think it's only 10 or 20 difference but still. I could have my numbers/letters mixed up too

Are these the tyres we are talking about? I see that the front ones are XL - do we need the Extra Load?

225/40/18 92W (XL) ZE912 225401892WXLZE912

225/35/18 87Y FK452 225351887YFK452

Cheers :D

XL means that the side walls are a bit thicker. This will give you a stiffer tyre but a better handling.
I installed the Falken's (XL) all round last week and still trying to drive them in..kinda slipery on some corners.

Well, I've just plumped for the Eagle F1's too!!! I'm hoping that the asymmetric design and non RFT will eliminate most if not all of the tramlining i've been experiencing, it's awful! If not then it may be enough to put me off the Z and sell up :(
Fingers crossed that all will be improved. Just for comparison It's cost me £560 all round including mobile fitting. I considered the Falkens but to me Goodyear have the best pedigree and reputation so I'd rather pay the extra. That said I found Falken 452's for £300 delivered. All of these are in 18's to go on to my 107's. Couldn't bring myself to change the style of alloys, nothing else impressed me enough. I liked the M6 and the ACS styles but most alloys looked better on black or red Z's... silver is a tough one to please. I guess it's saved me a few quid at the end of the day and the 107's have grown on me a lot, much like many other "love or hate" styling items. I'm considering the totally clear rear lights which at first I thought looked a bit chav like but again... the more I look at them, the more I like them (particularly on silver) Might be my only option now I want rid of the nasty orange indicators all round, but all other options seem very expensive. You cannot find clear 2005 rear lights anywhere other than the dealers which is ££££££££. I did find reasonable cheap options on German eBay but the reverse light and fog will be the wrong way around and would need re-wiring to correspond with the lens. I would ideally like the facelift lights from 2007 model but to my knowledge that requires replacing the bumper and some electrical re-programming!!! Arggghh decisions decisions...

I just joined the Falken 452's club...not notice too much difference on sharpness of turning and going over speed bumps are much less of a back breaking experience than the RFTs. £370 fitted with Events tyre.

I decided to take the plunge on the Falkens - just the rears for now. So far, extremely happy, particularly on the motorway. If anyone's after a set of Bridgestone Potenza RFT's 225/45/R17 with about 5mm left then I'm happy to sell - will be putting on ebay in a couple of weeks time.

I sold my old rfts from my 1 Series. A while later I decided to trade it in anyway and the stealer wanted to charge me £700 to refit rfts as a condition of accepting the car. Just a thought.
