Which would you go for ? I have been quoted (Blackcircles)...

Falken 452 (non-RFT)
225x40xR18 2 off at 84.86
255x35xR18 2 off at 125.71
TOTAL £421.14

Bridgestone RE050A (RFT)
225x40xR18 2 off at 183.17
255x35xR18 2 off at 226.55
TOTAL £819.14

Michellin Ps2 (RFT)
225x40xR18 2 off at 223.60
255x35xR18 2 off at 269.10
TOTAL £985.40

I am reluctant to go for the Bridgestones again cos' a) I want a change and b) they are a bit harsh and tramline..

I have the PS2 ZPs and they rock. Tread life is longer than Bridgestone and they ride and handle MUCH better.

I think the 452's wear out rather quick so not much cheaper than more expensive makes

Currently running Falken 452's myself and am very happy. Up for replacement soon, i am considering either same again or some of Vredestein Ultrac's

http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?plid=m61b0s22p12436

They come with excellent reviews and are cheaper than most

Go for the 452's very popular and half the price of the other options but not half the quality or wear.

I'm happy with mine

Or throw another into the mix

Bridgestone Potenza RE040 (None Run Flat)

2 x 225/40 R18 Y (88) £273
2 x 255/35 R18 Y (90) £321

Total £594 Fitted Blackcircles

30 to 40 k on a set of tyres makes them a cheaper option in the long run? Premiuim brand I believe oem on the Enzo? Had these fitted a couple of weeks ago and they really are a good tyre.

Decisions Decisons

Customer comments:

"Have done 30K miles on 1 set of tyres, great handling, as a result have bought a new set. Fantastic tyres both in the wet and dry."

"Great value and great tyres!" - 01/07/2009
"These provide 30k miles on a BMW320D Sport with excellent grip wet or dry and are quiet running. Not cheap but good value."
"These tyres last up to 40,000 miles with a great deal of "spirited" driving included." - 08/07/2008

When my Bridgestone RFTs wear down I'd be tempted by the
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics for non-Run Flats
225/40R18 £130 each
255/35R18 £166 each
at http://www.hiqonline.co.uk

Disclaimer:
I work for Goodyear, but don't particularly know much about the tyres,
especially the performance tyres, as my Z4 is my first sports car
and my first experience with Run Flats

I have been studying tires and wheels for weeks - and my tread gets lower & lower!

I have decided on the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 - I considered all the ones listed in your post!

I presently have Michelin PS2s, 225-40-18 front, 255-35-18 back. The front tires have 25,000 miles with 5/32 left. The rear tires went out at 15,000 miles and now my second set of rear tires have 10,000 miles on them with 5/32. They are a very good tire but if this is all the miles I am going to get from tires, I would rather invest half as much for a tire with reviews almost as strong! Worth a try!

Specially after reading "Car & Driver" review - A year old July 2009 but still same tires currently available. Most of the judges used Michelin PS2s.

Trying to decide on wheels now - Right now I like the Beyern Rapp Black! Or maybe the Silver! 8.5x18 front, 9.5x18 back.

Thanks for all the replies ... I think I am heading the non-RFT route (that was the big decision for me)... but now need to consider the Hankook, Bridgestone non-RFT and Goodyear's.

The Car and Driver article is thorough but is for summer tyres.. suggested for use in 50 F and above... in the UK I will want to drive on winters mornings (the car is a daily runner for me) and so the tyres need to be good at down to 32 F (0 C) or less. I do know that snow / ice is a problem for the RWD (from last winter) :dizzy: ... during which time I resorted to adding ballast in the back.

This is an older article but basics still the same for considering "All Season Tires".

Thanks again.

It is strange but in the UK it is not common to have "summer tyres" and "winter tyres".... just plain "tyres" which seem to be used all year round without problems (except in snow / ice).

Another option to consider is Pirelli P Zeros. They come out as one of the best in recent tyre tests, see www.tyrereviews.co.uk, which is why I chose them. I recently fitted a set to mine and can highly recommend them, they perform brilliantly
