Failure mode of runflats

New tyres arrive Monday and will be fitted in the afternoon, yay!

If I should find myself going round a roundabout lots of times (perhaps due to being unsure of the correct directions or some such other circumstance) and perhaps using a little bit too much throttle causing the wheels to spin a lot. What theoretically would the failure mode of the tyres be?

Are the runflats likely to mean I can get the car home on them without damaging the alloy or are they likely to let-go spectacularily and leave me stranded?

Entirely theoretical question, clearly.

Just don't be a ham fisted ar$e like me who's just sheared off his locking wheel nut adaptor :oops: - what a plonker - now instead of going for a solo hoon in the morning i'm limping off to a dealer to get another one on mixed wheels and tyres (slowly slowly!)
 
Be careful! Had the same plan when my tyres were being changed last week! Had a big brown trouser moment!!

Oops! I bet they're expensive too - well reminded though, I should make sure I have the locking wheel nut adapter in the car for when I turn up at the tyre place on Monday, else that would be embarrassing :)

Wasn't too bad JCT600 in Bradford lent me their adaptor from their set (they had a case with each adapter in) and then by good fortune the one set they had in stock was the same (1 in 25 'ish chance) :D Went for hoon with wife and ended up in Masham doing the Black Sheep brewery tour - :driving: :D

Black Sheep's one of my favourite ales! Sounds like a good destination for drive that *adds to list*.

I've returned home with enough tyre left to get me to the garage tomorrow, result :)

Theakston's tour is better - but Masham's a good base for a run - Hawes and Buttertubs not too far to the north.

p.s. What tyres you going for? Put my rfts back-on yesterday and made me remember why I need some non rft all weather tyres!

Standard forum-issue Falken FK452's :)

Will get to try them out at Oulton Park next weekend! With a bit of luck the temperature will be just high-enough for them to get up to temperature. And if not, I guess I'll have to just drive that little bit harder :)
 
Falkens ,siftah. u missed the chance to go for the awesome(superior) Vredestiens. :poke: the falkens are good,tho the vrdstns grip better in the wet,and tend to last longer,imo.
if u havnt gone for winter tyres yet ,try vrdstn wintracs. also v v good :thumbsup:
