failed outsides temperature sensor suprises

Hi Gents
Just to share my findings when scanning.
All faults related to the sensor, with Dsc it's linked to instrument cluster which in itself is linked to the outside temperature sensor. Strangely when driving, it behaves like nothing is wrong but have not driven it hard after I discovered this issue.

Cheers

Possibly systems which depend on the temperature sensor readings get a bit freaked out when they receive either +40 or -40 degree readings :) (though I don't remember any other warnings when mine was on the blink).

Nice cheap, easy fix if you haven't done it already.

Yes I was surprise that the sensor is linked to that many parameters. The cause for most concern is of course the DME as we don't know if it affects the control of water & oil temperature, when I read the Dme fault codes it states Outside Temperature Sensor. I also wondered what has it to do with DSC !!!! Lol. In any case already fixed the issue just wanted to share my findings.

Cheers

I have had same faults recorded, but nothing wrong, all working normally.
I just clear then.
Did you replace the temp. sensor?
I know the iDrive shows a weird temp. when it hits zero, but ok either side.

These days where telemetry and sensor data are all pumped onto the DCAN interface it allows almost all ECUs sitting on the LAN to access that data and refine their calculations...as was stated when you then gets duff temp info all sort of systems can throw Wobblies..
