Failed MOT

Springs are about £25-£40 on the aftermarket and are literally 10 mins to fit (if its a rear)...

What are they saying is causing the brake imbalance? Front or rear imbalance (Usually fronts)...Front Calipers are around £70 each,and pads under £15 at ECP..

They may charge around 2 hours labour.....Then the dreaded 20% VAT...

So,could be cheaper but not too far off i would have thought..

That was the old Maniac, the new Maniac keeps his mouth closed on such topics and lets others have their turn in the fire.

If there's only a small oil weep I'd not stress too much - the much lower pressure from only 4 cylinders will ensure it stays as 'weepy' for a long time. Probably at least 5 years

Oil leak from Vac pump on rear of engine is really common......The actual case of the pump goes porous and weeps oil..


FWIR the pumps are around £325 from the dealers..

I had an advisory on front wheel balance last time, sorted with a pair of re-furbished callipers and new pipes for good measure as the discs and pads were new. As you say not unexpected on a car that's 10+ years old I suppose but still a nuisance.

There is also an advisory that there is "oil weeping from O/S/R upper engine, vacum pump area" - any thoughts on what this could be/mean??

I have the same, as you look at the engine from the front it is at the top rear of the engine on the left. I bought a new vacuum pump from Ebay but have not fitted it as yet. You can reseal it mine lasted 3 years but has just started again so I will probably fit the new one.
