Factory iPod connection - iPhone 5 conversion?

Hi all,

I have a factory fitted iPod connector (13 pin) routed into my glove box and at the moment I just have my old 6th gen Nano permanently connected.

Is it possible to:

1. Convert this to a lightning connector to play music off my iPhone5?
2. Charge my iPhone5
3. Re-route the connector to the astray compartment

And if so, how easy is this done? What is required and are there any guides?

So does this just plug into the ipod and the lead from the car into this?

Sadly i was hoping i could unplug the ipod connector and install a new lightening connector by USB. However its not USB the clever people!! :(

Am i also right in thinking its limited to just changing track on the same album or being able to shuffle the same series of tracks. I cant swap from one album to another?

How much for the iPod Dock Russ?

I'm still in 2 minds about changing the head unit at this stage so I might not need it but it's little things like charging the unit and the fact I have to reach into the glove box to change albums which if I can resolve it might stop me ruining the look of my dash

Thanks for the link, you did a great job with that...got me thinking now!

How easy is it to re-route the iPod cable from the glove box to the ashtray?

Its easy to route the cable, above the ashtray on the underside of the dash is a false panel which just pulls out to give you access.
If you remove the ashtray insert you will see a screw which holds the ashtray and switch panel in place. Remove that screw and lift the whole panel out to give you room to thread the cable in. Simples!!!
